Fantastic staff, very helpful. The room was very spacious and well set up. We had breakfast from the Awa cafe' which was superb and took in the wonderful view.

We had The Bungalow, which I found needs quite a bit of modernising and updating. Carpets very marked, lounge suite broken and uncomfortable.

The Apartment was perfect, lovely and spacious. Beautiful spa bath. Excellent customer services.

The property is walking distance from the CDB. Very convenient. Good value for money and clean. Room was very spacious and met all our needs. We do recommend it. No air conditioner though but the fan was very handy. Thanks

This is always my come to for accommodation in Whakatane, easy, convenient, great staff, super cafe on site and easy parking. Lovely units which are always super clean and tidy. Brilliant team, thanks guys.

I do like the Awa, however I wouldn’t choose the three bedroom apartment again. With zero air conditioning it made it far too warm in the heat of summer. The layout of only one toilet and it being downstairs while all the bedrooms are upstairs was inconvenient and the lack of extraction fan in the bathroom meant having to open the window while showering- which still didn’t do much to help the steam, but it gave the neighbours outside plenty of chances to see us in the shower or toilet as there are steps directly next to the unit so passer-by’s going up or down get an eye full. The sky tv also switched off at 8pm (when the reception closes) so there was nothing to watch for the rest of our stay.

Lovely cabins. Very comfortable bed. A smal couch or couple of armchairs would have been nice. Other than that had everything we needed. Great location for exploring Whakatane and Ohope. Close to supermarket and dinning options.

Receptionist was excellent. The facilities are starting age. Safety barriers on some terrace balustrades. Teaspoon needed cleaning before use.

Everyone we dealt with was polite, helpful and just wanted to make our stay hassle free. We'll definitely stay at AWA on our next trip to Whakatane. The facility was spotless and was kept that way throughout our stay.

Definitely will stay again. Reception team friendly and helpful. Cafe looks great but was rushing so only grabbed a coffee, a good coffee it was.

This place has so much space - lounge, bathroom with shower and soaking tub, separate toilet with an old-fashioned chain, kitchen, bedroom and outside seating. Would definitely stay again if the opportunity arises again
