Far away from the town, and not that clean. Expensive than I expected. I visit Denver often but I won’t stay here again.

Disgusting
We experienced the most disgusting experience with this stay. The receptionist was not helpful at all. There was not even a washroom or cloak room for guests as we reached early which was pathetic. The room was disgusting and they said they need 4 hrs to get the room ready after multiple sanitary inspection but it didn’t seem so. All guests were complaining about the bad conditions of the hotel. The entire experience was pathetic and I wouldn’t recommend anyone for this place.

You get what you pay for
First let me say the employees were absolutely amazing. Wonderful staff. The hotel itself, well, let’s say you get what you pay is an understatement with this hotel. I flew in late and was extremely tired and just wanted to get to my room and sleep. 1st room I was given. The water wouldn’t stop dripping/running. The smell was a mix of cigarettes and mold. There was no phone in the room and good luck working the lights. I tried to cancel my room since I would be there for a few days. I could leave but wouldn’t get my money back. So I was given a 2nd room. Went up to the floor and the battery on the room wasn’t working so I couldn’t even get into the 2nd room. Went back downstairs to get a 3rd room. I just wanted to sleep. Walked in and slept. Tried to use the tv unknown I had to move the furniture around to plug it in. The light switches don’t work for the lights but the tv outlet or some other device. The slamming of doors night and day and the walls are so thin you can hear all conversations. People did not abide to the no smoking in the rooms as cigarette smoke and weed smoke filled my room. This hotel was close to the highway.

Dingy, dirty place. Day time staff woman is not helpful. Night time staff, Nick I believe, was much better.

Customer service was awesome
The front desk was absolutely friendly and extremely personable in a very good way. Would absolutely recommend, They were so nice and caring, also could have a conversation with like he was an old friend. Absolutely would recommend, and the pillows were soft.

We got 2 rooms and one of the rooms was for my inlaws they gave us their card to go and the 1st floor of the property looks like a abandoned basement we were about to go in and the room was opened wasnt cleaned, went back up to the front desk told him he apologized we asked if they can have the same floor as us we were put on the 3rd floor he said we have to pay $120 extra so we paid when we got to our room the tv doesn't work theres only one towel ac doesn't start you need to open the window and smell the mud from the lake in the back, lamp doesn't work theres no switch , the bedsheets had stains from like years ago that they just keep using .. overall its the worst hotel to stay at

The deposit can bite you in the butt...
Hotel requires $100 deposit for your room and does not take cash for that deposit, the notice for which is buried in other content. I didn't have a way to get to my bank to change that and use a card. They charged my card for my room but then I was not allowed to use my room or get my money refunded. So I had to find other accommodations. The clerk at that time was as helpful as possible. When I called the next day to speak with a manager, I was told no managers were available, that the deposit was policy and that I would not be allowed a refund. The person I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude and condescending. This location is independently owned and operated... But won't ever receive my business again. Additionally it has tarnished the name of this brand for other locations as well.

Unfortunately we don't have control over where the booking sites put that information on their sites. However,it is your responsibility to read everything before booking. Also,the booking site does send each guest a message letting them know about what is required at check in.

Horrible
I was unable to stay because I was short $25 for the deposit. The front desk receptionist was horrible & rude & had AWFUL customer service skills! I asked for a refund or if I could switch my reservation to another night and she wouldn’t do either! I am very disappointed and don’t think I B will book through hotels.com again and I certainly won’t book at that hotel again.

On the booking site,before you even pay for your room,it states that we require a deposit of $100 at check in. Also,you booked a same day non-refundable reservation which was also stated on the booking site before you entered your credit card information. No one was rude or horrible to you. The front desk agent explained to you the terms and conditions of the booking and you were not happy with that.

Deposits are done as an authorization on your card. It would show as pending. On the day you check out,it is released by us that same afternoon,provided there was no smoking in the room or horrific damages. Once we release the deposit,it has to go through the banking system and depending on your bank and the type of card you have,it will fall off anywhere from that same day up to 5 days.

Booked for 6 nights due to emergency had to check out after 1 night. Hotel refused to refund… will never stay at Howard Johnson!!!

Sir, we do apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately we are not able to authorize a free cancellation on your prepaid booking. Our contract with all of the booking sites states that we are not permitted to refund anything with a nonrefundable cancellation policy for prepaid bookings through third party agents. We do have to follow the cancellation policy for each reservation as it is written per our contract with our OTA's. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused but we simply can not waive the penalty fee nor authorize for free cancellation.

The room was small and a number of things Already broken or dirty. Makes you feel they will tak e your deposit to pay for damage. I have no intention 😂 f staying past my current nonrefundable reservations have run out!

So disappointing. The fire water sprayers in the room were filthy and caked with dust and dirt, as was every vent. The bath tub had rust and peeling finish. The carpets stained, the paint very old and dirty, the sheets had holes! Not a clean cup in the room.

The Lake was a nice view as you drive in but unfortunately, our room was facing the Truck Stop TA YUCK! We were up all night on the 5th floor, with transit overnighters up on the roof top, walking around, creepy noises through the halls next bedrooms, not a relaxing night!

We are sorry you weren't happy with your stay. However,there is no access to our roof top,nor do we allow transients in our hotel. The front desk staff patrols the building during the night so that our guests and staff are safe!

No Coffee, stinky building and bathroom!
I Have pretty low standards and even this place was ruff for me. the bed was clean, but the bathroom had an awful sewage smell coming out of it. the building itself stank and was run down and nasty. AND there was no coffee machine in the room or in the building which was the worst part for me.

The carpet was really dirty and stained. The sink is broken, the bathtub is clogged. The chair doesn’t work and all of the towels are stained. It was not a good stay at all.

Where do I start? First of all, I arrived at the hotel after 5 PM and my room still wasn’t ready…it still needed to be cleaned. I reserved a non-smoking room. While I checked into hotel, the staff had me sign a waiver stating that I would not smoke in the room. After I checked in and went to my room, it reeked of cigar smoke. The room was old, dilapidated, stained, and filthy. If you like playing games like “Guess That Stain?” then this hotel is for you. The drains in the sink and the bathtub were very slow which allowed me to enjoy a shower and a bath at the same time. There was an electrical outlet with 4 plugs…only 2 of the plugs worked. I had to go to the front desk for every basic amenity…plastic cups, ice, an extra towel. This is a hotel that accommodates for long-term residents (monthly and more). With that, there was riff-raff that sat in the back of the motel sitting on the stoop, conversing, and smoking cigarettes. Sadly all of these people were sitting right outside my window. The TV didn’t work. There was no refrigerator in the room. The clock radio at the bedside was stuck on “12:00.” I dared not let my bare feet touch the floor…my shoes were sticking to the carpet. I usually don’t like leaving bad reviews but, this place was just AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. I have no idea why it got the rating that it did. I don’t think this place is worth one star. Pay the extra money and go somewhere else.

Save your money and go somewhere else!!
Checking in was a hassle, rang the bell for assistance multiple times without any service had to call the hotel phone number and tell them i wanted to check in. Then entering the room had to figure out how to get the A/C unit to work, since the room was hot. The smoke detector was ripped out of the ceiling with the wires not capped off exposing a safety hazard again. The hallways smelled like smoke even though we had a non smoking room. Found a cockroach on the wall when i woke up and black mold on the ceiling corners. Disgusted. Checked out immediately in the morning. The room and service was okay, would not stay here again for the price. Maybe worth $40 a night but nothing more. No breakfast like it states, restaurant it’s attached to shut down and sketchy parking lot.

Was a good stay
The front desk was friendly and the room was decent even though it looked nothing like the pictures online and the bed wasnt a queen as advertised. And the little stains of what looked like puke around the room was off putting but we were only there for rest, obviously.
