This resort is really quaint and has a lot to offer. The only real negative issues was the rooms were a little small and some of the amenities were a little outdated however the overall ambience of the resort is outstanding. It is not the type of place you plan to stay in the room. They have an excellent family game room and restaurant along with many areas where people can sit to congregate and have fellowship. Looking forward to trying this place in the summertime with direct access to the Saco River.

Good restaurant with breakfast included. Rooms pretty dated. And, we got a terrible room right next to the passageway between buildings where customers parked (and started up) their motorcycles and others smoked marijuana. This is a problem using Expedia. Yes, you get a better price but you also get the worst rooms. Will not make that mistage again.

The accommodations were very clean and the staff was very helpful. We had some connectivity problems, but the staff took care of those quickly. However, do not stay in the Honeymoon suite unless you are very agile - because of the jacuzzi. The tub floor is very slippery and the tub has a glass door, complete with a metal track, so you can't sit on the edge and swing your legs into the deep tub. There is no easy way to get into or out of the tub. Your feet will slip and you'll end up on your head in the tub (as I did while trying to get out) or doing the splits on the metal track. There is a grab bar but it's outside of the tub door, behind the bathroom door on the left side - so it is almost unusable for right handed people. I recommend they remove the door and metal rail and install a shower curtain so guests can sit on the edge of the tub. ALSO: The restaurant is separate from the hotel for billing purposes. You can't put your dinner on your hotel tab. The food is very good, but the restaurant is understaffed so you wait 45 minutes at your table after you've ordered for dinner, and sometimes 1/2 hour for breakfast. The wait staff is very friendly, but completely overworked, as is the kitchen staff.

Customer service was excellent and the staff went over and above to make your stay as comfortable and pleasing as possible. Abby went out of her way to provide soy-free oil (due to my soy allergy) so I could have my morning home fries!

This place was EXCELLENT, all except for the air conditioner in our room. Both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were fast, delicious, and highly recommended!! The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. They also have water, coffee, and cookies at check in times (3-5 PM) as well as coffee in the morning before the restaurant opens. The only terrible thing was the air conditioner in our room (and we did tell the owner). It kept turning on and off every 30 seconds, and when it did turn on it was so loud and while on it would vibrate so loudly! No matter what we tried, we could not make it stop. Ultimately at midnight we shut it off and opened the one other window in the room. They did say maintenance would check it out. But, it's good to keep in mind if you are checked into room 110, or any other. Check the A.C. first!

Sleeping in a renovated Barn!
We loved sleeping in the beautiful barn and the free breakfast was the best free breakfast we ever had! Everything was clean and everyone super friendly! We will be back!

Location was the main draw, and I got a super deal through Expedia. An older property with a rustic feel, yet right on (and set back from) Rte 16, combining quiet and convenience. Desk was supposed to be open until 9 and it was not when I arrived at ~ 8 pm but they had keys waiting and a # for me to call and it went smoothly.

Did not enjoy our stay - for the $$ go elsewhere
everything was a little disappointing other than the staff! The room was dirty, hair left behind the bathroom door by the previous occupants stayed right there for the 3 days we stayed, clearly the cleaning lady never looked behind the door. The heater setting was impossible to regulate, either full on, which required us to open the window to survive or just off which meant waking up to a cold room (it was in the high 30s while we were there so that's no pleasant either). The breakfast was also not great. they had no milk for coffee and the coffee was not hot (and we showed up right at the opening time so that must have been coffee for the previous day?!?). They offer private hot tub 30 minutes sessions. We tried to take advantage of it but the setting was at 90 and in 30 minutes it only went up to 92 so it was uncomfortably cold in there. NOT worth it! Overall we did not enjoy our stay and won't go back. For the price you can find better in the area.

The inn looked nice from the outside. Our room was clean, but smelled moldy. It needs updating. We made a dinner reservation for 6:00 pm. There was no one else in the restaurant. They menu was very limited , the food was barely warm.

Breakfast was very late starting so much so people were queuing. Room was outdated with broken furniture. Shower was poor and toilet did t flush properly. Came back one day to unlocked door presumably after maid had been in. Very poorly run. Not value for money!!

We loved Merrill Farms. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds were very comfortable. We had breakfast both nights, hearty and delicious! We would definitely stay here again!

Very family friendly, on-site dinner was good, friendly staff, fun pool. Hot tub was not clean, don't recommend.

Our family frequented Merrill Farm for many years and never had an issue. We went back for the weekend and we were disappointed at the abrasive manner in which we were greeted at check-in, the difficulty in getting supplies like extra bathroom tissue (we were directed to go get it ourselves in the back with a finger point), and we had not even checked in yet and we received a phone call in the car demanding to know why our credit card was declined for the balance. I made it clear in my two phone calls leading up to the trip that another member of our party would be paying the balance. When asked why they were running the balance through even before we arrived, we were told because they wanted to make sure we could pay. Check in was at 4pm and we were still on the road at only 2pm. This was insulting and rude. In addition, the 'motel' room was dark, smelled like marijuana, and was extremely outdated. It was not the most pleasant stay for the high nightly rate. We called to ask about a microwave or coffee pot and were told we were not allowed to have them in our hotel room. Needless to stay, we were very disappointed and would caution anyone paying that high a price to look somewhere else to get their money's worth. Our family will no longer consider this property during our multiple family trips north this year.

Two-night stay at this property as it was close to the event we were attending. Clearing suffering summer of 2022 from lack of business. For dining, needed to make an appointment for dinner and we were the only people in the dining room. Table was sticky and food not so good. Bottled beer past the expiration date and french fries were soggy and not cooked.

This is our favorite place to stay. Cookie time is a definite favorite for my kids and the breakfast each day in the restaurant is great.

Needs just a bit of improvement in certain areas
The hotel itself absolutely beautiful and all the amenities that are offered such as fire pit, playground, access to river, outdoor pool and grills are excellent. Breakfast was actually good too, was a bit worried about it after I read some other reviews, but not a single bad breakfast during our stay. The few things that were not good was one receptionist right at the beginning when we checked in. Her attitude was like she was doing me a favor by letting me to stay there. Very off putting and has no business being at the reception. Thankfully, we had another lady next day that was extremely helpful and explained everything to me, and I was grateful for that. Another downside was the cleanliness of the room, surface cleaning was fine but there is no deep cleaning, the dust was sitting an inch high on bed boards, mirror, night stand and so forth. That’s too bad considering that rooms are beautiful. One suggestion to the hotel management will be to change those awful AC units. They are inefficient and extremely loud. A newer unit will be electrically efficient and someone could actually sleep at night not staying awake due to the noise. Regardless of those little mishaps we did enjoy our stay

We'll be sure to help them feel more comfortable, and remind them to be sure to be more friendly, and helpful with every guest! Also, the AC units we'll have to look at if they are too noisy.

Just OK-Needs TLC and attention to detail
Expect rustic accommodations when staying in a converted barn. We stayed in a large loft room with two queen beds and bath on each level. The room was large and clean and was comfortable. it was the little details that were overlooked. The curtains to block out light fell over the a/c unit blocking the vents. We weren't able to block out the sunrise AND adequately use the a/c so, early-morning light poured into our room each day. There were no hooks in the bathrooms and no locks on the bathroom doors. The water was nice and hot but the showerhead is a fine-needling mist reminiscent of gym class. There was no table or place to eat on either level. There was a desk in one corner of the room but no chair at the desk. Only one outlet under the desk by one of the beds. No outlet by the other bed-charging was challenging. Both beds had metal pieces that stuck out of the frame that we hit our legs on a few times- very painful. We decided to use the hot tub and made a reservation as required. We were appalled and disgusted by the filth in this hottub which had a brown film when the cover was pulled back and a dirty ring around the tub. The pool was nice enough and enjoyed. We did love the outside deck overlooking the river. The river access is also a plus but would like to see safer and better access built as it is quite steep and rocky. Breakfast was ok but they were short-staffed and it took a while. I would give a cabin a try but my husband feels differently.

Average stay in the Motel section of the facility, but staff made us feel welcome. We checked in around 4pm and got fresh cookies and had a made to order breakfast before we left. Appreciate the early morning food, but may have caught them on an off day, as waffels was a bit under cooked, and my kids chocolate chip pancakes was overloaded with chocolate. The room was Ok, but had poor internet and a hair dryer that did not work. Although the outdoor pool was too cool and dirty to swim in the first part of June, i will give them kudos for the neat seating areas in the old house and some amenities around the barn that made it unique. Although a few updates are needed, i will say that they made efforts in other areas. A little rough in some areas but cool in other areas. If we were on site more, we probably would have used the amenities more. A little above average for our overnight family stay.
