Excellent hotel all round, full of character located in beautiful town. Lots of food options and brilliantly located to see Avebury, Stonehenge etc. One small criticism, was that one of our rooms was over the pub bathrooms and the sound of hand driers blasting through the night was disturbing.. it is a pub though, so can't complain too loudly.

Great staff at the Castle and Ball
The Castle & Ball is a slightly creaky old place but with friendly, welcoming employees who make staying there a pleasure. It has a central location (in the middle of the High Street, with parking behind). All the staff were lovely - Naomi (who checked us in) in particular was fantastic, including arranging a Z-bed at practically no notice when we had an unheralded extra who decided to stay with us. Thank you!

A very last minute booking. Delightful staff, good food, dated but comfortable room. 2 ladies travelling for a short break… the staff really couldn’t do enough. Breakfast really good. Will definitely stay again.

Cosy High Street stay.
Arrived on a Thursday and it was very busy, but managed well by a stretched staff. Following days were quieter. Staff always friendly even when busiest. Very nice stay. Thank you.

Short stay
Very friendly and accommodating the breakfast was very good and the meals and bar snacks were very nice. A nice lay back atmosphere would stay again

Room 20 - very roomy, spotlessly clean. Excellent bar staff, prompt service of Sunday evening menu. Great location of course! Returning guys who will return!

Bathroom shower had a faulty handle, but otherwise nothing to complain about. Would gladly stay here again

Did not like the roast dinner we had, was like a frozen dinner heated up , disgusting. Put us off staying and eating there again.

"Outstanding on every level !!"
Wow, Wow and Wow !!! What a truly delightful find in this beautiful little town. From the minute I walked in I was made to feel welcome, my room was spotless, comfy and adorable. Breakfast was superb on every level. Huge "Thank You" to Imogen, Naomi and Elisha for your wonderful hospitality during my stay. Would I highly recommend, absolutely !!! Huge pat on the back to all the staff and management, your hard work and dedication shines through !!

Good value for money
Updated hotel c8mins walk from Olten Station offering reasonable value for money by Swiss standards. Super clean, with gratis mineral water as well. Good breakfast selection, but check in was a little protracted as the desk was unstaffed (at c1900). All resolved eventually.

Nous avons passé un séjour agréable dans ce vieux hotel très charmant. Le personnel est accueillant, la restauration est simple rapide et le service efficace, le pub restaurant ferme à 22h30 donc à 23 h tout est calme. Chambre et salle de bain spacieuses. L’hôtel est bien situé quand on veut visiter le sud de l’Angleterre.

The pub is lovely old building in a lovely setting unfortunately the decor is also old and tired which is a shame our room was large and clean staff were pleasant we were late going to bed and hope the very noisy and creaky floor boards didn’t wake up other guests 😇

What a lovely hotel in the middle of a fabulous old English town. The Main Street where the hotel is on is so picturesque. The room was really big and comfortable and the staff were lovely. Also great with car parking facilities onsite
