No fault found
The hotel was ideal for my first night on the Ridgeway Long distance path being less than a mile off route. The room was a good size with everything I would expect. I had dinner and breakfast there, both of which were fantastic. The owner was helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay there again and definitely recommend it.

No evening meals only sandwiches. If u want a meal u can book a table at pub down Rd but didn't know that when I booked the hotel TV in room only a few station. Breakfast was good

Our room was clean and comfortable. Nicky was very accommodating, allowing us in early as we were passing. The breakfast is 2nd to none. perfectly set out, boiling hot., and a lovely variety. thank you so much ladies

A nice find!
A very friendly welcome, the room was very clean and comfortable. This nice little hotel is situated off the main road in the village centre, there is a pub a few minutes walk away, but the food in the restaurant is excellent and there is a nice lounge bar, so you probably don’t need to venture out.

Comfortable, warm and friendly. A little old fashioned but weren't the old days just the BEST days. Breakfast was lovely and I would stay again!

Lovely hotel but bring ear plugs.
Hotel changed our room and we had ground floor room with King Size bed. Clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the people in room above decided to get up two hours before breakfast! The floors are so thin we could even hear them go to the toilet.

NOT as advertised, will NOT go back.
3 star at very best, room was very small and not as advertised - 2 beds pushed together does not equal a kingsize bed. The 'Chop House' does not exist as we found out, owner recommended the pub round the corner for an evening meal....answers the no reply to asking for a dinner reservation, twice, as its recommended you do, due to popularity......from whom? The invisible men?

Hotel is a misnomer as this is a bed and breakfast. Although restaurant is advertised it was closed which was annoying. Luckily nearby pub served food.

Very quiet location but convenient for Marlborough.The room was clean but the matress was uncomfortable. The shower was virtually unusable as only a dribble of cold water or scalding hot- nothing in between. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and there was a good selection of fresh fruit and cereals.

Great hotel with exceptional hosting
Great hotel. Used this as a base for walking the Ridgeway. Hotel was very accommodating in terms of meeting our needs - for example storing our luggage so that it could be picked up at the end of the walk. Excellent breakfast cooked to order. Hosting was exceptional in terms of making us welcome and a font of local knowledge.

Great value and great for access to M4 and Swindon

Shame about male cook's attitude & cooking skills
The breakfast isn't very nice & I would never pay the asking price for it ! We met the lady owner on arrival who seemed to be ok but when we met him for breakfast well............ What a miserable guy !!!!!!! So with that & the breakfast not nice I wouldn't go back there again.

Nice hotel close to Stonehenge and Avebury.
Nice, but fairly basic hotel near Marlbourgh. We had a car so access wasn't a problem - it's a bit out of the way in the country, which adds to the appeal.

Window frame rotted right through.Whilst accepting that this was a cheap hotel, there is no excuse for desperately slow service.45 minute wait for our meal despite only two others in the restaurant. Grubby carpet in room. Soap dish in shower literally out of reach!

Couple getaway
We were on a short break and stayed one night. It wasn't until we booked and received an email from Mark to confirm that we found out they don't do meals on a Sunday. No mention of this in their blurb. No great problem as it was only 3 miles into Marlborough where we had a lovely dinner. Hosts were pleasant and the room was clean but the shower not the best.

Good clean and comfortable
Room not huge but comfortable and clean. Good bathroom. Lovely to hear the bird song through the open window in the morning. Very good breakfast. Do phone the owner if you're going to be late to arrive!

Ok place to stay, just get there early
Got to hotel late due to a works do and the owner didn't seem very happy. Room was ok but lock on door didn't seem to work too well. Breakfast was lovely though and greeted with a much happier and friendly owner

Lovely breakfast and peaceful environment.
This was a great find. The hotel is carefully put together with lovely touches - each room has an individual name (area/place) from Wiltshire. ( Mine was Newbury, My parents' was Stonehenge) and an information card about them in the room. The hotel was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was delicious with a range of good quality food products used. My Mother had ham and egg, I had poached smoked haddock and egg and My father had full English with proper sausages and bacon. a most enjoyable one night stay. Thank you.

okay but...
off the beaten path, steep stairs to room, room needed an facelife, couldn't control the temp. too hot even when heat turned off, bed uncomfortable, food was good , since it was raining ate in restaurant that night, breakfast was included food was good.

Ideal spot for break from walking. Perfect breakfast and packed lunch from Mark. Definitely helped the 20 miles in quite horrible weather.
