I'd stay again, but...
Mixed. Reception good. Bistro good. Breakfast dismal - harassed apparently untrained service. Room a bit tatty.

Disappointing and won’t return.
I was very disappointed with such a very dated, old fashioned room, far below my expectations. The bed was very uncomfortable and worn. The breakfast was of a decent standard. But most upsetting of all was finding some sort of insect scurrying across my clothes the next morning. I informed the receptionist and she said they would investigate. Whatever the insect was, it was definitely not a spider but something else??

Beautiful old building with lots of character right in the centre of Devises. Staff were amazing, helpful and very polite. Had a couple of issues due to problems with the building which were made tolerable by the kind, quick and thoughtfulness of the staff. Even with the issues would love to stay there again.

Rooms in urgent need of renovation & deep cleaning. Black mould on shower wall & chair upholstery stained. Breakfast chaotic - not enough staff. Waited ages for coffee & scrambled egg completely cold - didn' t send back as no time to wait longer. Poached eggs hard. Dinner in bistro excellent & bar staff good.

Lovely old coaching Inn, lacks personality, staff polite but not engaging except baridta whom we o served as warm and accommodating to people. Rooms need some attention, shower over bath difficult to use and slip hazard, nothing to hold onto when climbing in and out. In need of an overall upgradeand a boost to the staff morale

The Hills on tour.
On arrival we were shown to room 11. My booking was for a twin room of 20 sq. metre size. Room 11 is oppressive, tired and small with views of the extractor fan and pigeon droppings. How this room can be offered at £100 per night is beyond me. Luckily we were offered room 4 which was acceptable. The hotel seems to be run on a tight regime, one man band in restaurant and at breakfast. Unsatisfactory for the price charged. I think that the hotel requires a complete restoration. Understandably the building is old, but if this had been my first visit and room 11 had been the only availability I would NOT venture there again.

This building is 100s of years old, so it has a few creaky floors and worn woodwork - I love that because it shows the character and age of the property. The amenities were great - food was delicious, staff was friendly and helpful, and my room was neat and quiet (I slept well!)

Smoke alarm in bedroom set off by deodorant in bathroom with door open, a notice to keep door closed would help reduce any embarrassment

The part of the hotel I stayed in was quite tired, the room was small and the bathroom was in need of a total refurb howeverr the room and bathroom were both clean.

Very Bear-able
We were staying in Devizes to meet business contacts who were in different hotels. Our stay was made by friendly staff and we ate well too. Very well positioned for amenities and an enjoyable stay.

On arrival , we noticed that the room was stone cold ( room 32) and I tried to adjust the thermostat to no avail . I reported the matter to reception within ten minutes. The receptionist was attentive but I am not aware that she followed up on my request or attended to the issue. The radiator never worked and both the bedroom and bathroom were extremely cold with drafts from the widow. There was an electric heater in the room but it took over 24 hours to warm the room up. I again reported the matter to a different receptionist on check out and she said she was sorry and that she would get the handyman to have a look at it. She didn’t offer to compensate us. Surprised at the lack of customer service.

Friendly helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble. Room a little tired but believe refurbishment is due soon. Would go back again. Enjoyed waitress service at breakfast rather than usual buffet breakfasts. All in all a good stay

Really good, central hotel in nice market town. Helpful, efficient staff made us feel very welcome. Very good breakfast and varied lunch and dinner menus. Food well presented and of a high quality. A really lovely relaxing stay.

Regency charm in Devizes
We stay here frequently when we come for balls in Devizes. We also stayed here for our wedding, in the beautiful Four-poster suite. Lovely old hotel with bags of history and character. Coming again in October.

The hotel itself is starting to get a little tired the rooms are generally OK but in desperate need of need pillows the pub has character and is what you would expect from an old building. Good selection of beers but the menu desperately needs updating & changing very little choice and hardly any selection of desserts the staff are are extremely friendly and helpful which makes it worth staying
