We went in the summer, super quiet and peaceful and safe. If you like something non commercial this is the place to go. Better if you like animals and speak a little Spanish. And most important bring cash money there are no ATM machines, Lagunita restaurant take credit cards. Very nice place😊

Rustic retreat!
We enjoyed our two quiet days literally steps from the beach at Yelalpa. Beautiful sunsets and mornings and warm nights. Water was very clear and inviting, especially in the morning. Very rustic accommodations that were fine if your okay with roughing it (we are) once in a while. Cabanas could use some updates, but if you want the slow pace of the "old Mexico" coast, this is your place. Sadly, the off the beach areas were less than ideal. Trash everywhere, strong (bad) smells and generally unkept. But, that's the old Mexico, like it or not. Beach had some trash, but not much different than other beaches near PV. We had fun!

Le falta bastante mantenimiento en general al hitel como a las habitaciones. La supuesta encargada citlali no hace nada oara arreglar los problema y se burla de los huespwdes. Un dia completo se fue la luz y ni siquiera una vela ogrecieron de verdad q deja mucho q desear la actitud de citlali como encargada ya que no da el ancho para cubrir su su puesto

Paradise found!
What a magical place. RIGHT on the beach in palapas that open onto the sand and waves. Don't come expecting luxury, but if you are truly looking to get away and experience beach life this is the place.

A Palapa in Yelapa
We loved the location of this quaint hotel. We had a beach front palapa. The beach was gorgeous! Listening to the surf from our palapa at night was amazing. The food at hotel restaurant on the beach was delicious , and the staff were friendly and accommodating. They served a delicious made to order breakfast and fresh seafood for dinner. This is a definite return for us. We spent two nights in Yelapa while on a two week trip to Puerto Vallarta. Took a water taxi from the main pier in Puerto Vallarta, and the hotel was easy to find. The only hotel directly on the beach.

This was a quaint little older resort, the rooms are very bare bones, the beds were very hard and it’s right on the water so the waves crashing on the rocks was extremely loud through the night. The restaurant was very good though

Hotel agradable frente a la playa y gente muy amable. Necesité otra habitacion y pagué en mostrados y salió 400 pesos mas barata la noche que lo que expedia me cobró. Revisa directo con el hotel primero

Lagunita ,un hôtel? Non ! De vétustes paillotes
Ces bungalows sur la plage sont délabrés , les murs faits de bambous offrent des trous géants , les toits de paille ou feuilles de palmes sont à refaire .La salle de bains et les toilettes sont à rénover . Et la propreté est largement à revoir . Immense déception en rentrant dans ce lieu sale et inconfortable après 14h de vol . Si le concept est à retenir , bungalows sur la plage , ces derniers ne sont plus habitables . Je m’attendais à trouver un lieu tranquille , mais il est envahi de vendeurs de plage et aussi de chiens , avec tous les aléas que cela entraîne ( nombreux excréments sur la plage ). Le restaurant , le seul ouvert jusqu’à 21h30 , est correct et le personnel est accueillant et souriant . On a dû trouver un autre hébergement confortable sur place . Lagunita , à éviter !

You stay in huts which are very rustic... But you do have running water which does get hot.. So that was great!

Location is perfect. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
No hot water in the shower after the 2nd night. Don’t drink the blended drinks 😵

We arrived on last boat in. When we checked in no one escorted us in the dark to our bungalow....path was difficult to navigate with luggage and no flash light. Wanted to eat dinner in their restaurant which closed early that evening. Spent first day on the beach. Wait staff was not attentive to refilling drinks etc.

Rustic hotel on the beach.
I would definitely go again. Our room was on the beach, though others were set back a little with ocean views. The town is wonderful, the food was delicious, and the relaxed and welcoming feeling was great. It is a rustic place (there's only been electricity for 13 years). I didn't find an atm and few places accept credit cards. Hotel Lagunita does though. And the restaurant and beach side service were really nice. The jungle is right behind the hotel! Lots to see. The downside is it was loud at night between barking dogs and insect; earplugs helped! Birding, whale watching, and much more.

Very dirty room .....
We were told to wait when we tried to check in because our room was being cleaned . We checked in hours later to a room that had dirt and debris in both beds and in the shower . A beer can ashtray / candleholder? We changed rooms and although bed was free of debris we saw the shoulder high ledge shelf was absolutely thick with grime . The fan didn't work switched it out for another one that didn't work Ugh . On the plus side most gorgeous views ever !!!! Right on the beach . Super nice restaurant staff and reasonable food great drinks . Pool was also lovely . Made the best of it . Was hardly in the room

Love the pool with the view
Stayed just one night in this beautiful little cove. The rooms/cabins are quaint and functional. Very clean. The views are exceptional! The not full stars is for no AC and no refrigerator. They really can't have AC with the construction so nothing against the hotel. Thankful for the mosquito nets over the beds :) will definitely stay again if we're in the area

Yelapa is paradise.
By far one of the most amazing places ever. The beach is rigth outside your doorstep and sleeping to the sound of the crashing waves was magical. The room is not luxurious, its like glamping. Super cute and perfect for our experience.

Hotel in contact with nature.
It is a good option if you want to connect with nature. The rooms are separated from one another as if they were a house. Each room has its own terrace to relax. There is light and hot water. The hotel has it´s own swimming pool and it´s a very good one. The beach it´s a few steps. It has it´s own restaurant, anyway you can go to the others. The town is in front of Hotel Lagunita, if your staying is for several day, you can go to the town to buy supplies. Ten minutes from the town there is a waterfall, the road it´s a good experience.

Love this place
Eddie and staff are the friendliest. We love this place. We are picky about our bedding so the typical Mexican sandpaper pillowcases wear on you after a few days. Bring your own linens if you're pampered like us!

Beachside living at it's best
If you desire beachside accommodations, we don't think there is another resort as good as the Lagunita resort, thouroghly enjoyed our stay!!!

Yo salí de Boca de Tomatlán que está pasando el hotel Garza blanca como a 10 min. Deje mi auto en la pensión El Tiburón (muy segura) 100 pesos x 24hrs.Mas barato que dejarlo en Vallarta y mas cerca de Yelapa. Tomé la lancha 90 pesos por persona . La lancha me dejó enfrente del hotel Lagunita . Las habitaciones son como cabañitas rústicas enfrente del mar. Donde escuchas el resonar de las olas en las piedras siempre. te desconectas del bullicio sin t,v. ( hay wifi )y haces caminatas por la playa junto con tu mascota sin correa. No es playa de gentíos... caminas y te relajas. El restaurant del hotel tiene buena comida ,y el servicio es bueno, los precios están bien y hay mas restaurantes en la playa si quieres más opciones o en el pueblo subiendo la montaña hay de todo. Si lo que quieres es alejarte en un playa recargar las pilas y conectarte con la naturaleza esto es para ti. Llévate un buen libro goza del sol , la brisa y buena comida. No bstallas para encontrar camastros.

Lovely setting, uncomfortable hotel room.
We stayed in room number 8. Every one is different. The setting is quite charming. Pros: We could see the beach from our modest porch, it was only a few minutes walk to the restaurants, and Yelapa was full of kind and welcoming people. Langunita's pool was very fun. It had several large boulders to perch on in the water, felt clean, and had a great view of the bay. Cons: We stayed on a very hard uncomfortable bed, there was a power outage for a day and a half which ment no showers, no toilets (not under anyone's control really, it just was unfortunate) but my worst experience was the bugs. I could not stand in our hotel for more that ten minutes without being bit several times. My saving grace was the mosquito net around the bed. I highly recommend bug repellent or a citronella candles to fight off the no-see-ems. Overall a pleasant place, nice experience. Would recent again, only with precautions. :)

Ojalá invirtieran mas en el mantenimiento
La situación del hotel es excepcional y tambien el concepto. Pero las mosquiteras están llenas de agujeros, hay cangrejos muertos en las duchas que no quitan cuando limpian, hay farolas sin bombillas y con los cables colgando y las casitas necesitan mantenimiento urgente. Estuvimos el año pasado y el restaurante del hotel estaba muy cerca y te servían en las hamacas. Ahora este restaurante está cerrado y tienes que andar bastante para llegar al nuevo y no te atienden si estás tomando el sol en las palapas del hotel, y si lo hacen es porque te quejas y el servicio es malo. Pero la comida es buena.

Muy descuidado, te venden la idea de que es rustico, pero al no tener ventanas ni mosquiteros, los insectos se meten a la habitacion, ademas de los cangrejos, la alberca, la comida y la vista es lo mejor que tienen, pero les falta mucho que mejorar, de hecho escuche las mismas quejas de al menos 5 familias que estaban al mismo tiempo que nosotros. En cuanto al personal administrative me dio la impression de que no les interesa resolver esos detalles. Yo no lo recomendaria para una estancia mas alla de 2 dias.

Muy rústico pero agusto
Todo bien en el hotel, lo que mas me gustó fue la ropa de cama y toallas limpicimas, solo las instalaciones del baño están a mejorar, el relax y tranquilidad del lugar es inmejorable, la gente amable dispuesta a ayudar, la comida en el restaurante muy buena se nota que no están improvisados... Si quieres relajarte este es tu lugar

Beautiful Sunsets
This was a fun place to stay! Think of it as upscale camping, with electricity and a bathroom. All huts are open to the outside and have thatched roofs. Don't be surprised or upset if you see a few bugs, a lizard, or a cute little beach crab in your room. The restaurant has good food and the best views of the gorgeous sunsets on the beach.

great Gilligans Island place- very hippi and rustic. Pool was dangerous and filthy- Towels has holes. People very nice and clearly not up to running a hotel.

Nice beach and staff but over priced
We arrived at Lagunita expecting an off the beaten path, rustic place and that's what we got. Being right on the beautiful beach and hearing the waves all night was magical. The staff and owner were very nice and accomodating. Especially after we asked to be moved due to our very noisy neighbors. Playing loud music at 3 am and pleasuring eachother! Once we moved, it was a lot better. Still, I think we paid too much for what we got. $160 a night for a palapa in Yelapa? I recommend calling the hotel (using the term loosly here)directly to book. Palapas are a bit run down, with paint chipping every where and tarp and garbage bags holding the roof together. Would have been OK if we'd paid less! Don't forget to take your bug repellant! We got eaten up alive, even with mosquito netting and spray.

Gilligan's island! They got the rooms messed up- only 1 bed for 4 people- the day clerk tried to figure out how to get 2 beds in one of the rooms- he finally gave us a different room WITH 2 beds. Great waterfall hike- great beach. The pool was dangerous and filthy- but hey- it had water in it. Towels had holes . No shampoo. The boat ride was awesome. The clerk was a nice man clearly overwhelmed. No one was in charge. the room was 160 a night. US.

Basic cabin in an amazing place!
Low season, mid-week stay in Yelapa. My cabin was simple, clean, comfortable. The sound of the waves crashing onto the rocks only a few feet away was soothing. The hotel WiFi was not adequate but the adjacent restaurant had reliable WiFi. Yelapa!! Love it.

Nous avons séjourné à l'hotel laguinita durant 4 nuits c'était très agréable. Hotel sur la plage, chambre très originale, typique. Le seul "hic" le confort du lit, pour le reste je pense que son emplacement et sa singularité font de cet hotel de meilleur de Yélapa

I have been to Yelapa 4 times, but have stayed at friends Casa. wantedt o see what the Hotel was like.Loved the hotel. i did receive a injury from their coconut tree by poll and nobody cared! They should have a sign of danger or trim trees. No medical there so i was lucky where they hit.

If isolated paradise is what you're looking for, then this is THE place. I don't want to rave too much, because if too many people find out about it, it's over. But for now, simple-heaven! Awesome food too...

Nice spot for family vacation
Nice and quiet little fishermen village at 40min in boat from Puerto Vallarta. Easy to get there, no much to do only enjoying the beach and the sea. The kids had a great time there. The hotel staff is really nice and helpful, the room are simple but it's quite sufficient. I'll recommend Hotel Lagunita and the village of Yelapa, if you prefer to escape from the craziness of Puerto Vallarta.

Difícil describir el encanto de Yelapa.... vívelo!
La expectativa era clara, instalarnos en un hotel cómodo, limpio, tranquilo, integrado al entorno, rústico hasta cierto punto y lo mas cercano a la playa. Así resultó! Sin exageraciones el hotel es tal como se describe, su encanto está en el entorno, salir de madrugada a la playa, ver la luna casi llena reflejada en el mar, palmeras obscuras, montañas, brisa y olas reventando a tus pies, resultó impresionante....
