A lot of time and trouble has clearly been invested in this hotel & there is much to applaud. The design and layout of the public spaces are excellent, with an elegant, homely feel, and there are one or two surprising areas to discover, such as the wine room. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, from the two receptionists to those in the restaurant. The quality of the food was exceptional.
As a single person, though, I did have a couple of reservations. Firstly, my room, a 'Snug', whilst comfortable and relaxing, had no storage space whatsoever, beyond a couple of hooks. Secondly, I felt (possibly unfairly) the Dinner menu did not exactly encourage a single person. There was a longish list of Sharers and the Side dish I ordered (ยฃ8) was clearly for (at least) two people.
I am sure the hotel is destined for great success, but hope for the sake of other singles a few tweaks are made.
