Palace Theatre Tours

Palace Theatre which includes a hotel, theater scenes and signage
Combine a French palace’s interior with a landmark art deco building and you have Columbus’ favorite historic vaudeville venue, transformed into a modern theater.

Walking into the Palace Theatre of Columbus is like stepping into France’s Palais de Versailles. The 18th-century neoclassical-style theater opens with a grand staircase and lavish gold-and-cream decoration, topped with a glittering chandelier. It was built in 1926 as a grand movie palace, designed especially for silent films and live vaudeville, with room for a large orchestra and theater organ. The theater was later renovated into a quality performance space with first-rate stage facilities. It now hosts some of the most exciting stage events in Columbus.

The theater’s early history as a vaudeville house meant extra attention was paid to its acoustics, so you will enjoy excellent sound from any seat in the house during live shows held here today. A whole range of musical acts, dance performances, stand-up comedy shows and special events are held in its lavish interior, including many major productions such as the Broadway Series and the Jazz Arts Group.

Make it a full night out and take advantage of the many restaurants and bars within walking distance of the Palace Theatre. Whether your evening is a special family occasion or a first date, many of the restaurants in the area will make your pre-theater dining experience especially memorable. Take in the exciting atmosphere of the theater’s buzzing lobby and have a drink by the fountain. Afterward, head downtown to enjoy a few champagnes with other theatergoers and swap favorite moments from the show.

Find the Palace Theatre at the base of the LeVeque Tower, the distinctive art deco-style building that serves as a reference point for Columbus. The Uptown District and the Scioto River border this picturesque end of the city. Local buses serve Broad Street and the nearby High Street. Ensure you have a cab or other mode of transportation organized for after midnight, since buses do not operate late, especially on Sundays.

Seats were way too small for the ticket price... My knees hurted upon the end of the show. Staff was very friendly and helpful!
