Dating from the Roman era, the remains of a former settlement called Caviclum can be found at Torrox. It has thermal baths, a necropolis, garum pits and pottery kilns, which date back to the first settlement of the village in the first century AD. Of course, cheap trips to Torrox are the perfect excuse to discover the region’s past in depth.
As well as the Roman archaeological site, you can see Torrox lighthouse, which gives its name to the town. This Site of Cultural Interest was built in 1864 and houses an interesting maritime museum. What’s more, there is a balcony-vantage point that offers some incredible views.

A few paces away you’ll find Puente de las Ánimas, a medieval bridge that features in the town’s stories. As legend goes, spirits who were saved from the river meet here with torches and chains on their way to the convent.
The Alto de Torrox sugar mill, the largest in the province of Malaga, and the watch towers from Muslim eras, on the beaches of Güi and Calaceite, are also worth a visit. Furthermore, Torrox has some impressive beaches where you’ll want to spend some time relaxing, such as El Morche with its charming seafront promenade.
The town has good connections, as it’s 37 miles from the airport and the main train station in Malaga. It’s an incredible destination!
