I read varying reviews of this hotel, but overall, I thought it was a nice property, and certainly a good value. Yes, the elevators are very small (probably because of the building's age), the lobby is modest, and if some rough edges on wallpaper will ruin your stay, perhaps look elsewhere. But front desk staff were great, the room was spacious and comfortable, water pressure in the shower was good and stayed consistently hot, and WiFi worked well. The location is excellent, in easy walking distance of many attractions. I'd gladly stay here again on my next visit to downtown Chicago.

pros: - very friendly staff - clean towels and sheets - convenient location - lots of wall outlets for charging cons: - parts of the walls were chipped - the door to the fridge had a ring handle that wasn’t screwed in properly - shower curtains didnt cover the bottom of the bathtub enough to properly keep water from coming out when showering

Everything was great besides it is an older building and older furniture they use. Our ac system did not work in our first room but we were able to get set up to a new room asap. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was easy to get to the subway and was a close walk to pretty much everything.

You need to request for housekeeping, otherwise nobody comes no matter how many nights you stay. There is no security required to enter the hotel, and there is no card needs to be tapped in the elevator to go to any floor. Theoretically any stranger can show up at the door of your room. Although nothing happened during my stay, I felt a bit unsafe.
