This is a beautiful resort and the onsens were amazing, quiet, relaxing, rooms were lovely. The kasieki meal was superb, breakfast had 100 choices. Only complaint os coffee at night had coffee grounds in it. i recommend a two night stay so you may visit both baths. The pajama wear and takata wear were so awesome to wear all over the resort and to dinner! What fun. No racial prejudice felt at this resort. Also a great location to catch the cable car to the ropeway which is a must do! Take the romance car back to tokyo very easy! Try to see Mt Fuji at the lake ferry just breath taking!,

Thank you to the staff of the Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu. As soon as we got off the taxi, we were greeted with extraordinary warmth and extra attention to details! We inquired about directions to the Hakone doorway, but instead your staff personally drove us there! Your hospitality is above and beyond! We will definitely visit again! The onsen with the spectacular view is a sight to behold. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! Next time we will stayed much longer!

The property is generally very nice, but very very busy. Breakfast buffet was very busy even at around 7.15am. Free ice cream and coffee in lobby is a bonus but the Onsen again was busy but having a private bathtub was a benefit.

This was a fabulous ryokan to stay at! The onsen was clean and very relaxing and had all the desired facilities I had a private onsen bath in my room which was really easy to use and perfect. The rooms are clean and well taken care of and have all the required amenities. The other facilities like the lobby and garden are all very pretty as well, I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family. The location is decent with a close bus stop within 3 mins walking distance. The only thing that I did not enjoy was the food, the breakfast buffet was dry and bland and was not worth it and also the Shabu shabu dinner too, the food generally was very plain and not good but it’s hard in Hakone because food places aren’t within walking distance. I had a teppanyaki dinner at the nearby restaurant which was booked through the hotel which was lovely. Skip the food but consider your other options near by as well.
