“Just a lovely spot, 5 minutes driving from town and the shore in Newcastle, 15 or so to some great hiking trails. Grounds are very nice and there’s a gentle climb down to the river, a beautiful spot on the patio to sit out for a drink or morning coffee — and the breakfast was excellent as well (I had to go for the Ulster Fry (similar to the Full English) both mornings. Wish we could have stayed longer, but hope to go back. Seems to be a holiday spot for the Irish and those from the UK, not...

The lady (with glasses) who served us was the friendliest, most helpful and efficient person who we have encountered on the entire trip. What an absolutely lovely person she is. “The cottage is warm, comfortable and has a view of Killeavy castle. The hosts were kind and thoughtful. They had essentials waiting for us in the kitchen (tea,milk,bread,etc.) which were very much appreciated. Definitely need a car if you plan on staying here. Road noise may be an issue if you’re a light sleeper plus be very careful coming out of the driveway. The locals drive fast on this road.”

“The property owners really care about the property and have remodeled it adding special creative touches throughout. The patio in the back is wonderful and quiet, comfy bed, great view. Full kitchen, clothes washer (no dryer though, be aware). We would definitely stay here again!”

“We had a truly fantastic stay at the Mourne Country House B&B. A lovely family run place. Gareth was very attentive and helpful and offered a lovely breakfast, and the place is absolutely pristinely clean. Great jump off point to the Mourne mountains. I really enjoyed being here and would highly recommend! ”
