Riverside Hotel
8/10 Good
"Stayed for two nights here in August 2026. Parking was included and undercover so great for a short stay to just leave it there safely. The room was ok, if not a little tired. With marks on the wall, and MDF work surfaces looking frayed. The room was comfy, excellent mattress and pillows, though in a heatwave, due to it being an old mill it was stifling hot. A fan was available but that just moves the heat around. Plugs were sparse, and you'll need a usb charger plug as they aren't integrated plugs yet. Staff were fabulous, really helpful, the barman was a hoot, and so friendly with guests. English Breakfast was fresh and hot, there was a plentiful choice of cereals, fruit and drinks too. We ate at night in the Tannery room, burger and a small fish and chips, both were plentiful and fairly priced. Finally it was a welcome bonus to have a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room available for guests to use after a full day discovering the lakes. A really pleasant stay, the hotel rooms could do with a bit of updating, though the gym, pool, bar were fresh, but it's all a matter of cost."
Keswick Country House Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent staff, everyone is very helpful and can’t do enough to make your stay lovely, will definitely go again"
Mary Mount Hotel
8/10 Good
"Beautiful view from the bedroom at the front of the hotel, and the location is gorgeous. The actual hotel would do with a bit of modernising- it’s not “old” as such, just showing some signs of wear in places- a lick of paint and a new carpet in the dining area would go a long way. However, it does still look nice. The shower is not powerful and the toilet flushes for a really long time for the pump to refill. In room toiletries are small and basic. The cleaning is not great- main areas are fine, but cobwebs on the lamp in the dining area are not good. But……. This hotel more than makes up for this in location, staff and food. The staff are truly lovely-friendly warm and helpful - but not false with it. The steak pie, the chips, the sandwiches and the lamp rump are all excellent. Plenty of variety and breakfast and quality was good. The walk around Derwent water was gorgeous and this hotel is close to Keswick- via foot bus or car. We much preferred the quiet of the hotel to Keswick which was very busy."
