The highlight of my experience in Girona? Walking the Passeig de la Muralla at sunset, hands down.

My first afternoon in Catalunya's second biggest city, I stumbled upon these walls with an acquaintance from my hostel, just southeast of the Plaça Catalunya. The views are simply stunning. I just had to return on my final night to try and catch the sunset, despite the catch-and-go torrential downpours that afternoon.

I highly recommend this Catalan town; in less than a few hours, it became one of my new favorite cities in Spain.

"If you expect nothing other than a small room with little ventilation, smells like wet socks, and a reception team that does little other than checks you in, you'll be fine. One thing they did was called a taxi for me. I appreciated that."
