Westbrook motel

I stayed at the Westbrook motel for about a week and a half visiting family. It was very clean and great for the price. Some of the staff aren’t the friendliest but other than that it was a great stay.

Your typical cheap motel. The front desk had bullet proof glass. Chose to sleep on top of the covers with a blanket i brought with me for fear of bed bugs. Got home and had a tick on my blanket. Oh joy.

No matter how desperate you are. Sleep in car.

Checking in next to a counter full of porn mags shouldve been the first sign. Being handed a key and remote the 2nd sign. Entering a room eminence of a cellar turned into motel room the 3rd sign. And the remote that said low battery when tried to use it. The last.

You can learn a lot from stories

Room was dirty - I dropped a white towel and picked up a brown one. Walls had suspicious black stains, and it sounded like squirrels or raccoons were in the ceiling. The sound of water dripping out of pipes in the walls and ceiling was nearly constant. Comforter had cigarette burns throughout. Motel has one room available, the rest of the rooms have long-term tenants. Tenants were screaming profanities into the small hours of the morning. I fixed their toilet as a matter of necessity. I slept lightly and I slept armed, which is how I slept at all. The mattress was very pleasantly firm (albeit loud enough to wake the dead) but the pillows were stuffed with hopes and prayers. The shower didn't drain effectively, leaving me ankle deep by the time I finished. Overall, I'd say it was educational and gave me a new appreciation for chain lodgings.

We tried really hard to have a good night. This is my hometown and we were back in town for a family wedding. My husband had stayed there before alone and everything had been basic but clean and perfectly fine. This time we were first given a room with no working A/C in the middle of August heat in SC, and then when we tried to leave, they gave us a room with AC that at least worked but was noisy. There were bugs and mildew all over. We really needed a room with a king bed because he's really tall, but settled for a full size bed to try to give the motel owners a chance and not take away income. There were only a couple of small towels and they looked dirty as did the bed sheets and pillow cases, so I had to run to my family's house and borrow pillows and towels and a blanket because I was scared to touch the sheets by that point. But neither one of us slept all night. The worst part was the next morning when we came out of our room, seeing a family that had been put in the room we rejected because of no A/C, with small children. Those poor kids! I'm so sorry; I really wish it would've been at least sanitary if nothing else. We would have stayed here again if so. We will just spend a little more and go somewhere else next time. Sorry guys.

I would say it would be good.

ONe bed was all I needed to just sleep for my trip. bed was made after 2 days, not each day and one towel left one was dirty. It could use a uplift with colors, curtains, furniture to make it more appealing.

Owners very nice!

Very nice couple/owners. Room was beyond gross! Used their washcloth w h2o on table cloth now black (pics), chairs never washed w burn marks, top fridge handle indent full of stuff floor in front of fridge large brown chunk of something solid stuck, bed cover full of smoke burns, small debris over sheets pillows, one handle of towel bar left, mirror never washed w old toothpaste spots cover entire bottom you can’t see reflection, local channel only no Wi-Fi microwave inside beyond words. Towels had black stains. I put their towels on chairs to put my belongings on their furniture. I bought Clorox bleach wipes then put my own dish towels over table before placing my stuff on table. Bought a new folding chair to have a place to sit also bought an extra large blanket. I took off top cover of bed laid blanket on top of pillows and sheets to lay on and then pull over me like a taco. I bought two each new towels, hand towels, wash cloth to use during my stay. The smell, mostly smoke, stale air, had to leave door open for fresh air it was bad bad. Furniture, picture leaning on wall from floor. Plug hub never ever cleaned. Now realize I washed crystal rocks I dug in tub, and it is absolutely cleaner and disinfected when I left. Met the cleaning lady when I asked for a broom. She clearly is not a housekeeper of any kind, barely able to catch her breath just walking broom to my room. Seriously consider somewhere else if they don’t change anything cuz it’s bad bad Refund wished for!

Less than basic

Check in was an elderly non English speaking woman assisted by a child who did check in with daddy via video chat. He came around later to collect payment. Located right on a highway, the place is noisy. Pillows were flat. Cleaning non existent. They tossed a couple towels in the room daily and took out trash now and then. Mostly I took out my own trash daily. The place is definitely old and patches all over the walls. The a/c was held in with duct tape.
