Acton Scott, Church Stretton hotel rooms at the Independent

"We loved our stay and will return but the housekeeping in the rooms needs to improve (barely acceptable), the bed linen is beautiful though. The setting and the rest of the hotel makes it worth it though!"

"It's in a lovely location and adequate for us as a base, but the place badly needs refurbishment. The lift was out of order, no food available and as a whole it's very tatty."

"Very good breakfast locally but the hot could have warned us about no meals on the premises. Parking tricky!"

"Very welcoming and friendly staff. Great for children, they made a real effort. Milk and cookies at bedtime brought with a selection of books. That was a real personal touch that we hadnt expected. The room was a great size for 4. Decent breakfast despite the small size of the hotel. We were only looking for a bed for a couple of nights to attend a birthday celebration but were really delighted with what a pleasant stay it was. Would definitely come back and hopefully the car chargers will be operational then."

"Although the stay was okay, the locality was very noisy and we were told as we were shown the room that there was live music that night. It was directly beneath our room. So perhaps something needs to be advertised in the listing that the venue has live events in an ongoing program."

"Great staff, excellent spa facilities. The junior suite could use better curtains that can block out light and it gets bright quite early in spring/summer time "

"The Good: The rooms are decor are decent, the breakfast was pretty good and it's centrally located in Shrewsbury. The Not Good: The water out of the hand sink tap in the room was boiling hot on one side and freezing cold on the other. The coffee was bad. But the real issue was it's a busy pub in a busy part of the high street and there was music blasting until 12pm on Saturday night, then after that a constant stream of young clubbers screaming and shouting right outside the window, until about 5am. So we couldn't get any sleep at all. It was a joke really. Not entirely the establishments fault, but it should have been clearer when booking and the staff weren't very sympathetic."
