The property was amazing! Highly recommend the suites with private pools. Everything was very clean and the staff were so kind and helpful. The breakfast was one of the highlights of our day and the food and drinks at the restaurant were also very good. We also enjoyed easy access to the beach. We also appreciated that the hotel helped us arrange transport from the airport. It was a bit of a drive but the property was worth it. We loved staying at The River!

I cannot sing the praises of the River Suites enough! We had a fantastic week-long stay and everything was perfect. The breakfast was brilliant, bar food was just as good, cocktails were top tier and the pool areas were really quiet, clean and relaxing. Also excellent WiFi wherever you are! Our room led straight out to the smaller pool and it was idyllic. The hotel is also walkable to Agios Nikolaos in under 30 mins if you take the route along the beach path, so you're close enough to so many good restaurants, shops etc.

Will definitely return as such a beautiful place, the suite was nicely furnished, spacious with separate bedroom to lounge and scrupulously cleaned. The two pools, one salt one chlorine, were lovely and the sandy beach just a few steps down. The staff were all so nice. Taverna next door or 9 euro taxi to the lake in Agios Nikolaos. The restaurant onsite closed at 7pm, but that didn't bother us as preferred to go into Ag Nic anyway with its many vibrant bars and restaurants. We didn't think our breakfasts were particularly good, eg tea came ready poured, not the usual tea bag and hot water pot, so you had what you were given whether you wanted it weak or strong. No grilled tomatoes, no baked beans, no American/Scotch pancakes. Cappuccino was tepid and milk not very nice. We had better cappuccinos elsewhere. I could go on, but this wouldn't stop us coming again as the rest of it was just so amazing. Sorry chef.

Food was mediocre at best at their restaurant. Couldn’t even eat the breakfast they served. Staff was below average on friendliness, probably wouldn’t stay here again.

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel for two weeks and cannot recommend highly enough. We arrived late and very tired and was greeted with a big smile and welcome drinks from Dimitris who always went out of his way to ensure we were enjoying our stay. We had a room overlooking the small pool which was quiet and perfect for us. But just a few steps away was the stunning large pool leading to the beautiful beach. The hotel was spotless and the room cleaned very well daily (special mention to all the cleaning staff especially Angela). All staff deserve recognition they all smile and can’t do enough for you. Breakfast had many options and was delicious which you ordered the day before. Option of being served to your room or in the restaurant overlooking the sea. The restaurant served great drinks & lovely food with a smile and although it shut at 7pm there was a great taverna next door open till very late run by the brilliant Nicos. I would recommend a car as there is so much beauty to see & plenty to do around this beautiful part of Crete. Honestly we were blown away. Thanks so much The River, we’ll be back next year. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war wirklich sehr toll! Die Anlage war sehr gepflegt. In der Nacht gab es leider störende Geräusche (Kühlschrank und Wasserleitungen).

Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, wir konnten jeden Tag andere Komponenten auswählen. Auch die anderen Speisen für mittags und abends waren lecker und nicht zu teuer! Das Personal sehr freundlich und zügig im Service! Unser Zimmer am Privatpool war sehr geräumig, sauber und die Betten bequem. Es waren zu jeder Zeit ausreichend Liegen am Pool und am Strand vorhanden. Keine Handtuch-Reservierungen. Top! Ein rundum gelungener Urlaub, jederzeit wieder, weiter so!!!

Frokost var bra. Kunne bestilles til rom eller i restaurant, positivt. Utenom sesong så det var lite gjester, grunnet været så fikk vi ikke gleden av å benytte basseng, bar osv.

Kan anbefales!

Flott hotell vi gjerne drar tilbake til. Stort rom, bra bad. Deilig frokost som vi kunne velge om vi ville ha servert i restauranten eller på rommet. Flere restauranter og serveringsområder. Anlegget var stilig og så ut til å være nytt. Noen rom har eget pool (det hadde ikke vi). Personalet var meget hyggelig, imøtekommende og serviceminded. Kort vei ned til nydelig - om liten - sandstrand med fin sand (ikke stein) og langgrunt. Så om det var litt bølger og vind var det enkelt å gå ut i og komme seg på land. Ca 20 minutters spasertur til sentrum. Men vi tok taxi tilbake. Alt i alt et supert opphold.
