The room was very clean, the bed incredibly comfortable, and we had a gorgeous view of the bay (room 6). The free breakfast options included delicious banana bread and sausage croissants. Pemba’s hospitality is outstanding and we really appreciated that we were able to check-in early. Thank-you so much, we will be back!

I don’t usually write reviews, but my stay at the Nimpkish warrants one. The building is old but that’s its charm; it’s not cutting edge, but everything works, everything is comfortable, and everything has character that you won’t find in a brand new building. I won’t go into all the details that made my stay there one of my best hotel experiences, I will just focus on the biggest one which is that the hosts there are quite literally the nicest people I’ve ever come across in a hotel. Within minutes of arriving, I can honestly say without exaggeration that it felt like I was staying with family. The hospitality really is that good, and they seem genuinely lovely people. Nothing was too much to ask, and anything I needed was provided immediately. The only downside of the Nimpkish is that it was so good that it means I will probably never get to try out any of the other accommodation in the area, because if I go back to Alert Bay I will go to the Nimpkish every single time.

We would highly recommend the Nimpkish Hotel! We were greeted warmly at check-in by hotel personnel who then walked to our vehicle to carry our luggage up to our room which had a spectacular view. Our room was very clean, nicely furnished and absolutely charming. We chose to have dinner at the hotel and our dinners were as great as any 5-Star restaurant. Perfectly cooked and a beautiful presentation!

I arrived after a very long day of traveling and upon arrival i met the kindest woman who is the inn keeper...incredibly warm and compassionate even though i arrived late..she even made me the most delicious shrimp curry after the restaurant was closed. Dinning room overlooksalert bay so excellent point to see wildlife while eating free breakfast. Beds were like clouds, room cozy and immaculate. A nice 15 minute walk from ferry. The owner went above and beyond to help me arrange transportation to final destination as well as just be an i credible conversationalist. I would always stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Nimpkish Hotel. Our room was spotless, comfortable and had an amazing seaside view. The owners and staff were so welcoming and constantly went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Breakfast was included and dinner, only offered to hotel guests was leaps and bounds above anything else in town! We highly recommend the Nimpkish Hotel to anyone travelling to Alert Bay!

Excellent hospitality and amazing location. Sitting on the deck watching the sun set is nothing short of spectacular. Listen for the minke whale blows as they can often pass by on the summer months. Kingfishers, Eagles, Ravens add to the magic of the hotel stay. Hospitality is second to none.

Charming historical hotel right over the water
Charming and very comfortable place right over the water. Room are spacious and comfortable for a long term stay. Large deck and various outside spaces and seating arrangements provide many options for working, writing, book reading, or simply soaking in the breathtaking scenery. Hosts are very welcoming and happy to share their knowledge about island and it’s history when asked. I would highly recommend this hotel to any visitors to the island - solo visitors, couples, or families. And I would certainly stay there on my next visit to Alert Bay.

Nice little hotel
This is a very nice little hotel with very friendly owners. They will send you the ferry schedule in advance and you need to pay attention to that because your only way on and off the island is likely to be that ferry- if you miss it, you’re out of luck.

Friendly owners, no change of towels staying 3 nights (we asked). No tidying of our rooms when out for the day. Lovely view, on the water, enjoyed our games sitting on the wharf.

We do not tidy the rooms each day anymore as a COVID-19 precaution. Perhaps we need to commu icate that better. Yes! We have the best view in town and our guests do enjoy our spacious deck over the water.

Nimpkish Hotel - Pearl of Alert Bay
Excellent stay at the Nimpkish Hotel. Hosts were friendly, helpful, accommodating, courteous, and hospitality +++ We are so happy to have chosen this hotel for our stay. Exceeded all expectations. A true gem! Spectacular sunsets from the large private deck that overlooks the Bay. Walking distance to practically everything!

The staff at the Nimpkish are perhaps the nicest I've ever met in the hotel business. The property is old but the views are fantastic. The only thing i did not enjoy was the lack of screens on the windows. I would however stay again.

The room was very neat and clean. Was smaller than it looked in the photos but was still nice. The bed was terribly uncomfortable but thats my only complaint. The hotel had a beautiful veiw from our room, the deck and the sunroom, where breakfast was served. The breakfast was nice with fruit, yogurt, bread and bagels, and even deviled eggs.

Great little hotel located in Alert Bay. Short drive from the ferry terminal. Just park your car and start exploring this great little island. Make sure to check out the Cultural Centre

This is a beautiful property dating back to the 1920’s brought to life with the current owners flair of traditional touches of the past with updated features in every guest room. Sea views, electric heaters, clean comfortable rooms, each with its unique flair.

We stayed for 3 nights. Brent and Jan are very welcoming and friendly. The sunroom is a great spot for the included continental breakfast. The homemade baking was delicous! The hotel itself is a cute building with gorgeous views. The room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay! We would definitely visit again! We also highly recommend visiting the U'mista Cultural Center while visiting Alert Bay!

We heard humpback whales from our balcony and enjoyed watching the porpoises while we enjoyed a beautifully presented continental breakfast from the attached pier. Both owners were so generous and kind and referred us to great things to do locally and on our continued travels. Definitely worth the trip to Alert Bay!! The whale watching tour was tremendous as well! Tons of orcas

A lovely spot right on the ocean. The sunset, the many little extras, the room is decked out with everything needed for an overnight stay but so hard to leave after only one night!

A SLICE OF HEAVEN AFTER DAYS OF HELL
I wound up at this hotel due to a series of unfortunate incidents involving my car breaking down and no accommodations in Port Hardy. I had to do a lot of one-day stays, hauling my stuff from place to place. No fun. This place is on Cormorant Island, a lovely 40-minute ferry ride from Port McNeill on Vancouver Island. It is one of the best places I have ever stayed and a perfect way to end an extended ordeal. While I enjoyed walking and hiking on the island--including having a rock beach ALL to myself--when I checked in, I just wanted to hang out on the hotel's large seaside deck, reading in a hammock, writing while glancing at the ocean, watching the occasional eagle. My room had a spectacular view. Honestly, I just wanted to move in! There was a nice continental breakfast with great coffee. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I will stay here again. It's the perfect spot for relaxation!
