Grasmere B&B

The B&B is in a wonderful location, within easy walking distance of Grasmere village. Management and staff were certainly friendly. However we found our double room was cramped and the ensuite bathroom particularly so. We had difficulty in finding a place for our 2 suitcases without tripping over the cases in the night. We were very surprised to read a note asking us to strip the bed of the bed linen after our 2 night stay. Although breakfast was certainly included in the B&B price, we discovered that only a very basic breakfast was actually included in the quoted price nd we were rather irritated that a proper continental breakfast attracted a higher charge and a cooked breakfast an even higher charge. This left a sour taste after an otherwise pleasant stay. Taking the small room and complicated and highly priced full breakfast arrangements into account, we found this B&B to be expensive and would probably not recommend it to others.

Rather unpleasant stay

There were 4 of us staying at Thorney How. Nice place overall, decent food, clean rooms, quiet area. However, the service is absolutely awful. Aside from the fact that after you've paid for your accommodation you are required to leave the property between 10.30am and 3pm, our stay within the allowed hours was rather unpleasant. There are certain hidden and tricky rules. The first one that we have encountered was with the "flask service". When we asked for our flasks to be filled with water, we were notified about £3 charge per flask plus £1 per tea bag (it was the next day that we've found out about a kitchen with an absolutely free kettle to use for all guests). The second "favour" was when we sat in the lounge after the bar closure with our own bottled drinks. The owner has rather rudely instructed us to leave the premises to consume our alcohol outside (we nearly finished our single and only beer bottle per person), so we sat outside in the dark on the benches. Few minutes later he returned to further send us away elaborating on the fact that we are still on his premises. The deal was that we can stand on the edge of the fence ensuring we are not crossing his territory. It was pitch black outside on the county lanes. Being a guest who wouldn't normally complain about such things, this kind of service puts anyone off from coming back to a place that doesn't value their customers.

Great place and local. Unfortunate that mens Showers are the other side of the bldg. but apparently the owners are making all rooms ensuite

一般般吧

就是一个很多客房的家庭旅店，95磅2张上下铺，地方没有网络导航还是很难找的，虽然事先截了地图。房间凑合，6磅的免费早餐也太能对付了。

Average backpackers at full bnb prices

This is not a hotel, guesthouse or a bnb. It is a backpackers with no towels (unless you pay more), no cooked breakfast (unless you pay more), no capacity to make tea in your room, not even a glass for water. Mattresses are hard foam blocks with cheap urine protectors. All for over 120 pounds a night!

Overnight at Thorney How

Thorney How is an independent hostel in a secluded location, used mostly by walkers. The ensuite room was converted from a dormitory and was comfortable enough but with no TV. The price per night was rather high.
