When I first got here, it was a bit of a letdown for me for what I was used to in hotel quality but, after talking to my friend (a 5 time veteran of Amsterdam tourism) and after seeing her Airbnb, I realized that one must have different standards for Amsterdam. The room is very small, there is no countertop, the bathroom is tiny, and the shower is open (without a door). I came to realize that, by Amsterdam standards, this hotel is an excellent stay for the price point. One will simply not usually find a hotel in Amsterdam with a room that is typical in size and amenities without paying luxury prices.
With that being said, the room was clean, the service was very friendly, and the location simply could not be beaten as centralized in old Amsterdam (and a few meters from the tram stop).
I was most impressed with the following. When I arrived with no time to spare, it demanded that I left the room in a state where I had sprawled out three suitcases of stuff across the floor, on the bed, and all over the desk space. It remained that way past the housekeeping time. I was not aware that daily housekeeping came with my stay (I feel bad in hindsight). Well, the housekeeper actually organized all of my stuff and I came home to a cleaned and organized room, which I am sure would have taken some time to do. I was blown away with this kindness.
Also, be aware that daily cleaning can be loud outside the room door. Maybe bring earplugs if you plan to sleep after 11 a.m.
