Great hotel. & dog friendly. Good location in old town lots of bars and restaurants. Overnight stop over travelling through to southern Spain. Had a really top class meal in on-site restaurant. Will definitely use this hotel as our regular stop off. Underground car park had a height restriction of 1.85 bit tight turns with 4x4 but manageable

A comfortable and convenient hotel with pleasant staff and good facilities including secure parking. The bistro style dining was excellent and we took the smaller breakfast option which was great too. The central location is perfect, right in the heart of the old hilltop town with many historic buildings and great views.

Staff were all very helpful and lovely, which made it a very pleasant stay. The room was well appointed and clean, lived all the eco changes and will definitely go back and stay there again if in Angouleme. I have already recommended to friends.

Love where the property is situated. We were only in Angouleme for 1 evening but could easily access many restaurants in quaint cobbled streets with live music and a lovely atmosphere. Later the live music at the hotel was very enjoyable and we were able to visit the market across from the hotel early the next morning. We didnt like the pillows, finding them very hard, but overall a really pleasant place to stay in the heart of the atmospheric old town.

Great location with parking

Great hotel located bang slap in the middle of town. Good parking on site (€14). Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel clean and comfortable. V good breakfast. Meal in the restaurant Bistro Bardy was ok. (Many thanks to the staff for retrieving our passports which we later discovered we had left in the hotel safe!)

Hotel Mercure is located in the hearing of Angouleme and right across the street from the Halles - a unique venue much akin to a farmer market with patisseries, bars, and wonderful food. The staff was wonderful and shout out to our bartender. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. The rooms are good sized, very clean, and fresh.

Comfortable with safe parking

Stayed in a suite that was very comfortable. Nice to have the extra space. Restaurant was nice and food of good quality, perhaps an extra waiter would have made it quicker. Good location near the centre of the town. We had a bonkers car with no roof, doors etc so secure parking was very important and this hotel has private underground.

Had a nice stay here. The only mistake we made was eating in the Hotel restaurant which was really awful. The food was really low standard. We may stay again but next time we will eat somewhere else!

The two courtyards were perfect for gathering with our friends and the town square area was beautiful and quaint. My grandparents had their wedding reception in one of the courtyards in 1919. First time I have actually stood there! The staff was helpful and friendly.

Their classic/standard rooms are overpriced

The first impression when entering the hotel is great. All common areas are what you expect from a 4 star hotel. But when we got to our room it felt like we had entered a different hotel. It was like an Ibis Budget. There was not even an armchair, just a plastic thing next to the small desk. Despite plenty of space in the room. The advertised ‘city view’ was in fact a view of the backyard with the ducts and AC units of the restaurant. All of this despite paying €20 more that their own advertised rate. All in all a disappointing experience. A shame because much of the place as well as the location are excellent
