Loved the bright, lively atmosphere. People were friendly and respectful. There were folks of all ages staying and were all nice to each other.

Friendly staff, central location. Lots of thoughts in regards to environment and reduction of wastage. Problem is the late check in, considering that some people are returning from a 100km walk and are keen to have a shower and drop their bags.

Apollo Bay is a very good location for Great Ocean Road in both ways, but the YHA is a simple and not cheap accomodation

Good Choice for stay in Apollo Bay
check-in is easy and there are many parking space around the hostel and near the restaurants in 3 mins walk and the room is clean and big for us, all experience is good

Cosy and clean.
Big double room with balcony. Plenty of parking on site and on the street. Cosy lounges, one per floor, for relaxing in the evening. We had a lovely log fire in the spring. Big, modern kitchen and love the eco-friendly vibe. Look out for free food in the fridge from old guests. Few bars and restaurants to walk to :-)

Simple hostel and quiet town
-simple place to crash for the night, friendly staff but no towels available. -make your own bed, pillow & blanket sheets as they are placed on the bed but not done up for you. -fan in room anytime ready to meet its maker. - simple and clean room, clean toliet, decent hostel. - only the surroundings, its just pretty quiet or dead as its a simple small town....probably hostel is clean because its a quiet town.

Mooi en eco hostel
Mooi en eco hostel midden in Apollo Bay. Was erg rustig toen ik er was maar dat was wel lekker. Onwijs mooie en gezellige gezamenlijke ruimtes. Keuken is mooi en heeft alle spullen die je maar nodig kan hebben. Verder ligt marines lookout erg dichtbij en kun je vanaf hier mooie wandelingen maken langs de kust en de Great ocean walk. Douches en toiletten zijn gedeeld maar goed schoon gehouden.

Clean & eco-friendly
Very clean hostel run in an incredibly eco-friendly way. Staff were friendly and helpful - let us check in early. Perfect place to stop for Great Ocean Rd tour.

Good location just one block back from the beach.
Great place to stay if you are on a budget. The room we stayed in was tidy and clean and fresh linen and towels were provided. Overall, the place was good with one exception - the cleanliness (or lack thereof) of the doors in and out of the various break rooms - they felt sticky and looked dirty.

Prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is veel te hoog. Men moet zelfs het eigen beddengoed afhalen bij de privekamers. Van buiten oogt het gebouw erg fraai; van binnen echter niet bijzonder sfeervol.

Great location, but not the best stay.
Good location. Helpful staff. The sheets weren't clean when we got into the room. The guy at the reception was really apologetic and immediately changed the sheets. Talking about males' bathroom, the facilities weren't satisfactory. Two basins, one was blocked. Only one toilet cubicle with almost cardboard like toilet paper, not really helping with cleaning. One urinal with no water system, really stunk. Showers were ok, but dirty floor mats were hung right on the door in your face, not feeling good. Disappointing. KItchen was nice with sufficient facilities, pots and pans, tables, nice deck outside, which was great. However, nothing to do with the hostel or its management, and it's the general fact with hostels overall. There was one guy early in the morning in the kitchen whilst we were preparing our breakfast, in his 30s or 40s. He washed a bucket load of his dishes without using any kitchen sponge, brush etc... but then he washed his stupid (cheap looking) white shoes in the kitchen sink with dishwashing brush, and then scraped every single groove of their soles with a kitchen knife, and then dried them out using a tea towel. He probably spent good 15-20 mins to clean those stupid shoes using kitchen utensils and facilities. This is the level of respect a lot of people give to others in this kind of environment. We personally wash every single kitchen dish, utensil before and after we use, but every time we see that kind of behaviour, we are put off by the experience.

Hostel in Apollo Bay
This was a disappointing experience. I was not happy with the overall cleanliness of the hostel ..both my room and the corridor were smelly. The bed was not comfortable. The hostel is well equipped and in a good location, but I thought it was overpriced considering the condition of the facilities.

Nice affordable accommodation.
It is possible to check-in early and just collect the key when arriving. It worked really well. The hostel is placed very central and only a 5 minute walk from the beach.
