The ruins are part of the royal palace that was built sometime between 1351-1369. Sad to see such old architecture being disrespected by someone trying to take a perfect selfie.

Chompoo was an excellent host allowing us to drop off our luggage early as we were only staying in the area for a day. In fact were able to take the room at the same time, which was large and had super quiet air conditioning. There was also plenty of shared seating and dining areas avaiable- all very clean and tidy with microwave, kettle and toaster. Close by to explore the temples and we hired bikes for the day from the host for only 50Bht each. Also good local craft ale bar just down the road and 7/11 Overall a great base for exploring Ayutthaya.
