We loved this property. Our rooms were spacious, bathrooms were nice and clean and the breakfast were good. The restaurant is only open for breakfast, which is included, and dinner from 6 - 8. We were pleasantly surprised by the food in the restaurant. We went there the first night because of convenience and weren't expecting much. Our meals turned out to be really good so we dined there once more during our stay. The hotel is about a 40-minute walk from the downtown area, but there is a bus. It only come once an hour though. They are also very strict about check-in time. We arrived just a bit early and they didn't even want to talk to us. Told us to come back at 2. The hotel caters mostly to German-speaking clientele. That being said, English is spoken. In fact, many of the employees don't even speak German as they come from many different countries. At first we were given a room at the back of the hotel with only a view of a hill. No other choice because they were fully booked. They next day they kindly changed our room to one with a stunning view of the mountains. That was really nice of them.

Sehr schönes Hotel, sehr freundliches Personal. Das Frühstück und das Essen im Restaurant war sehr lecker. Die Zimmer waren schön und sauber und haben einen kleinen Balkon. Ein schöner Vorteil ist, das man mit der Gästekarte den ÖPNV kostenlos im Berchtesgadener Land nutzen kann.

Sehr unfreundliches Personal am Empfang. Schon bei der telefonischen Rückfrage, ob es denn möglich wäre etwas früher ins Zimmer zu können, da wir auf eine Hochzeit eingeladen sind, wurde dies mit dem unhöflichen Kommentar abgetan, man könne schließlich den anderen Gästen nicht mitteilen, dass sie nur wegen uns früher auszuchecken haben (was wir auch nicht erwartet hatten). Wir waren dann am Anreisetag etwas früher da, um uns nach der Fahrt noch frisch machen zu können. Dass die Zimmer vor 14 Uhr noch nicht frei waren, war kein Problem. Allerdings wurde uns das wieder sehr unfreundlich mitgeteilt. Es wurde uns dann nach Rückfrage erlaubt den Hallenbad-Bereich zum Umziehen zu nutzen. Einzig freundlicher Mitarbeiter war einer Herr mittleren Alters im Frühstücksservice. Er hat sich freundlich bei uns erkundigt, ob alles in Ordnung ist und wir gut geschlafen hätten.

It seems that this hotels caters to groups. The breakfast was only mediocre. The rolls did not seem to be fresh. Parking lot was full and hard to find a parking place. However the rooms are clean and the view wonderful. The Wifi was only available in the lobby.

The man on the mountain

Olimme tutustumassa Berchtesgadenin toisen maailmansodan aikaisiin maamerkkeihin. Kävimme mm. Kotkanpesässä, joka oli aivan uskomaton kokemus jo pelkästään sijaintinsa puolesta 2 km korkealla. Sää oli aurinkoinen ja lämpöä 33 astetta joten näkymät olivat mielettömät.

Palvelu oli erinomaista joskin henkilökunnan englannin kielen taito rajoittunutta. Perus siisti hotelli ja kaikki toimi. Ajoin autolla päivisin hiihtämään eri keskuksiin Salzburin ja Innsbruckin alueella, joten oleskelu hotellissa rajoittui lähinnä aamupalaan ja yöpymiseen. Hauska yksityiskohta hotellista oli, että aamupalapöydät on nimetty ja aamuisin piti aina etsiä oma pöytä, mutta jostain syystä (matkustin yksin?) minun pöytä puuttui ja sitten etsittiin sitä henkilökunnan kanssa kunnes he antoivat toisen pöydän. Palvelu oli ystävällistä, mutta hauska yksityiskohta tämä joka-aamuinen aamupalaepisodi.

The hotel was located so it was a short drive to Berchtesgaden or Salzburg. Great view from the room. Nice folks at the desk were helpful. Good breakfast. Small but clean and comfortable room. Good value.

Es reicht zum Schlafen

Zimmer sind sauber und haben alle einen Balkon. Leider lies sich die Balkontür nur schwer öffnen und mit Gewalt wieder schließen. Am ersten Abend wollten wir im Hotelrestaurant essen. Mussten jedoch ca. 20 Minuten warten bis wir bestellen konnten und fast 2 (zwei) Stunden warten bis wir unser Essen bekamen. (anscheinend nur 1 Koch da) Ich habe noch nie ein solch lieblos hingeklatschtes Frühstücksbüffet gesehen. Käsescheiben konnten kaum voneinander getrennt werden, Leberwurst klebte zusammen, Wurstscheiben auf 1 (einer) Platte für 60-70 Personen uninspiriert trapiert. Brot ausgetrocknet, 2 Sorten Brötchen nicht frisch, Rührei viel zu flüssig, kaum Obstauswahl, 1 Sorte Joghurt, süße Stückchen kaum zu erkennen. Saune und Hallenbad waren da, aber wenn man keinen eigenen Badmantel dabei hat, wird es teuer. 20 Euro Kaution und 5 Euro für die Reinungung. Am Abreisetag kam um 8.10 Uhr der Zimmerservice und wollte das Zimmer aufräumen. Bei Auschecken wurde wohlweislich nicht gefragt, wie der Aufenthalt gefallen hat.

Decent value compared to the price.

For the money this was a good hotel, about two miles from the town center. The price was great. Check in was OK, the lady behind the counter seemed curt. Internet was non existent, only at the lobby but very poor. Parking was free, Breakfast was pretty standard. Saying all that, the price was so low compared to other places it was much better than I expected.

Overall a Ok hotel. Nothing special but you should expect it to be due to the location and age. Absolutely beautiful location. Restaurant was oK. Parking was limited due to the time of year (vacation time in Germany).
