“Hotel is new. Great to be out of the city as we were exploring the surrounding areas. Check-in staff were knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Check out was likewise very easy. No problem getting a park underneath. We ate at the restaurant twice and rooftop bar - great views. Food was fantastic. The Wait Staff were coping with high volumes of people and doing as good a job as possible. Friendly, but couldn't answer questions, didn't know the menu, but what was truly awful was their managers....

“What a beautiful hotel, we had a fantastic stay. Exactly what you want in a lovely historic old hotel in a fantastic location in the Adelaide Hills. Beautifully restored, fireplaces galore, great welcoming bar and elegant dining room with fabulous wine room. Couldn’t fault the hotel, our room was so cosy and comfortable, gorgeous large marble bathroom and balcony (Tiers room). “Conveniently located in McLaren Vale, so easy access to the wineries. Outdoor pool is closed during the winter. Staff were very friendly.”

“The split system the heating wasn’t too good was noisy. The bathroom toilet area was not very clean. Overall the bed and everything was excellent to staff in the bar attendance for excellent overall Lockie’s was an excellent place to stay well recommended”

“Hard to sleep throughout the noise due to something in the room or building being loud (my aircon was off so wasn't that like I thought it was). There is no on-site staff. I was sent to the wrong room upon checkin, my code wasn't working, so had to ring to find out why only to be told wrong room. No information provided on amentities where thry were located and the carpark situation unless I contacted the hotel. Pet rule is 1 per room, a couple had 2 with them, I don't like dogs (I didn't see...

“Don’t be misled by the name and the pics - this place is right in town and just off a highway. No bucolic getaway this. Room was fine for our needs - but a bit tattered around the edges. We didn’t expect much for the price and were not disappointed.”

“the Hotel is more like a motel with separate buildings behind the reception. However, design is modern, almost like a small resort, and great access to parking and to the main street of Hahndorf. The rooms are a good size and the bed is super comfy. One thing I am particular about is a good sized towel and their towels were bug and fluffy.. The rooms have a fridge, sink and tea/coffee which you dont really need given the great coffee in the area. Would totally stay here again”

“We loved our stay at Mt Lofty House. Highly recommend the daily history tour at 4.30pm. All staff were really friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. Our room was divine. A tip, the cookies are the best. There’s a jar left out and topped up daily but it’s a bit of a secret. We dined at Martha’s and after a really busy day, loved the easy going nature of this restaurant. We also had the 7 course degustation menu at Hardys Veranda another night.
