Didn’t like anything except for the breakfast. Entrance to the hotel seems like the entrance to a usual residence, very unwelcoming. Apparently you could order some food for dinner but noone would answer the phone. Window could not open and the air was not pleasant. Sink was not draining properly etc. etc. Breakfast was excellent .

Shame about the breakfast
Our stay at the hotel was generally pleasant, thanks to the excellent reception staff and the cleanliness and comfort of our room. However, we encountered some issues during breakfast. The restaurant was understaffed, with only one person managing all the service. We faced difficulties such as a malfunctioning coffee machine, and essentials like sugar and butter running out without being refilled. It was challenging to place our order as we had to actively seek the waitress’s attention. Additionally, the dish we received did not match its description, and we were advised to modify it ourselves using buffet items, which was impractical. When I expressed these concerns to the waitress, her response lacked an apology and focused on the challenges of managing the service single-handedly during a busy period. I believe these areas could greatly benefit from attention and improvement.

Wasnt the best unfortunately..
The hotel itself is brilliantly placed, bar area and foyer seemed good, but the room itself not so much. It was a good size and decorated nicely, but the bed was broken, matress seemed cheap and uncomfy and the headboard had a big rip in it. Well, a huge chunk of material ripped off. Also could hear a lot from other rooms. Was only there to sleep and had to leave early so didnt try breakfast. Shame as were looking to be in Brum quite often in future, but not sure this would be the place.

Overall still remains a good hotel. Stayed here every year for the last 6-7 years during a trade exhibition at NEC. This time it just felt like some of the standards had slipped reference to quality.

Room was very noisy, it did quieten down in the early hours but the windows let all the noise in from outside. Worse than that though it was freezing… like staying in a fridge and no way to up the temperature. Pillows also very uncomfortable. Breakfast was ok although no fresh cooked meat brought out and the sausages looked inedible. Shame really as I always generally like a Marriott but I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend

Centrally located. Easy parking. Very close to places to eat and shop. The staff were very helpful, welcoming and polite. The breakfast was good and varied. Only drawback was the somewhat worn tired furnishings in the room. The mattress was not very comfortable.
