Approached down the sort of steep, narrow and winding lane that makes urbanites nervous, the hotel has a mercifully spacious carpark. Our room was very comfortable. The restaurant was good, and the waiting staff exceptional. Can't really comment on the local amenities: our short visit coincided with very high winds whipping the sea into massive waves so the beach was dramatic and sadly inhospitable.

A tired hotel that was quite remote. Rooms were very hot even with the windows open and were dated. The staff were very good and the meal we had from the daily restaurant menu was really delicious and of good quality. It was fine but wouldn’t return.

Although the hotel is an older building, all of the furnishings in the rooms, reception and dining room were very tasteful. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The breakfast was delicious and lots to choose from both cooked and continental. Overall a very good stay

Friendly and comfortable stay

Had a warm welcome, very friendly and helpful lady. Room was really nice and comfortable and clean. Had some cakes waiting for us in our room, amazing taste and a lovely gesture.

We last stayed here sometime in the 1980s and it was a tad dismal: things have changed - a lot! Made very welcome by the reception staff, room quite small, but perfectly clean and well appointed, with a couple of cake morsel treats together with a hand written card to welcome us, which was a very nice touch. We were in the middle of heatwave, so it was a bonus to find a very efficient fan in the wardrobe: tea and coffee-making facilities and two bottles of water complete the set-up and were much appreciated. We ate in the Admirals' Bar, and the food was excellent, as were the hard-working, friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast was also excellent, once again served by friendly staff. Quite sad to leave after only one night and will almost certainly return next time we're in the area. Only one small downside, if you like a firm mattress, you may find these a little too soft, but we both slept extremely well.

The Admiral restaurant is amazing. Definitely 5-star cuisine. Unfortunately the hotel is in need of modernization and a deep cleaning. Room/shower stall was very small and water pressure in the shower was very low.

We enjoyed our stay. Convenient for long walks and for us better than staying in bridport. The bathroom was on the small side. We felt that our recently refurbished room could do with another refurbish along with the rest of the hotel. It was adequate though and the staff were very friendly

Peace & Quiet

Lovely friendly staff from the minute we arrived until we left. Living under the Heathrow flight path, the silence was wonderful. The only sound we could hear was seagulls and the occasional wood pidgin. Wonderful four day break.
