Its an older hotel but well maintained. I felt safe, it was quiet, and it provided good value for the money. The room I selected did not have wifi, but the girl at the front desk gave me a code and it worked well. I would stay here again.
This was my second time staying at the pecan. This is an older motel. but the people are taking great care of the place. It's exceptionally clean for an older motel and well manicured. The outdoors is pretty and well maintained. It's very peaceful and quiet. You cannot get a better deal in Brownsville. If you want to save money or on a budget, I highly recommend this place. It's a nice old motel that is clean, comfortable, and quiet with a nice landscape. and friendly staff. But if you are looking for luxury this is not for you. It's a simple well-maintained motel at an exceptional price. In absolutely loved setting outside in the peace and quiet.

This was my second stay at this property. The first stay was in Dec 2023. We called the hotel directly to book, and found it very strange that the desk clerk would not honor the standard rate advertised on the hotel's own website! She asked for a rate $15-20 higher. Eventually, she advised us to check the prices and book on Expedia, which really seems odd.
The property is very old, although it has been updated, and there are new electrical conduits and grounded plugs in the rooms. Also fresh paint and adequate hot water. The beds are very hard, but the sheets and bed coverings are nice and clean. Double rooms (two double beds) are much larger than the single rooms. No amenities, other than soap. Interesting that they put money into a new half-basketball court. The property could really use some trees.
This is a hidden gem, with a boutique feel. I immediately noticed the care in planning and executing renovations. The gardens are beautiful and inviting. And while you can still tell that everything is a refresh of an older property, everything was clean and fresh. No bad smells and no recycled furnishings. The only recommendations I'd have is replacing lightbulbs in the main room from the swirled florescent lightbulbs to LED. The fluorescent lights give the space a cheap/old office vibe. Internet was very slow, with only one bar. I think it's because I was in room 6, which was at the end of the row. That distance put me far from the router. Finally, warm water took quite a bit of time to run to the shower and was nonexistent for the faucet. Other than that, AC worked well, bed and bedding was new and super comfortable. Thanks.

I stayed for 1 night in a king size room. While the outside needs fresh paint, the rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable, and great bed linens. Only one electrical plug in bedroom. None in bathroom. Pedestal sink so place to put toiletries. No hairdryer. No dresser, but a piece of furniture with cubbys to put your clothes. An open space with clothes bar but no hangers. Shower with small toiletries for sha.poo and conditioner. Nuce towels. My card declined the hold on the room thinking it might be a bogus charge since I was 300 miles from home. The woman at the front desk was perturbed because she was being charged a fee for the decline and again when she ran the card on arrival. She complained to me about the fees 'especially since I was "already getting an online discount". Parking is free. A vending machine outside with snacks. I saw a coffee pot in the office but did not try it. No coffee pot in room. If you need a room for under $90 (online non refundable reservation) for one night with a comfortable king bed, than I recommend stopping here. My stay in Brownsville was extended for several days so I stayed somewhere else as my needs changed.
If you just need a decent room with a decent bathroom to stay in while in town (without all the bells and whistles of a chain hotel), this place is exactly what you are looking for.
