Vero Beach Museum of Art featuring signage and interior views

At the center of the Treasure Coast’s art scene, this museum has a serene sculpture garden and wings filled with temporary and permanent collections.

The Vero Beach Museum of Art is a fun and intriguing space for myriad artistic forms of expression, from photography and sculpture to glass and paper works. With its regular events and workshops, it is one of the community’s most interactive art hubs. Attend the Museum Art School to learn how to find your own inner creativity and follow in the footsteps of the region’s best-known artists.

Join a guided tour of the galleries for a wider understanding of each art form. Check out the intriguing works of glass art, with their otherworldly shapes and bright colors. Nearby, modern paintings by such artists as Joan Snyder, John Sloan and Robert Natkin provide a mix of hues and styles. Look through the fascinating photograph collections and study the paper creations.

Take advantage of the city’s fine, sunny weather with a trip through the sculpture gardens. Among the highlights is the Takashima Shun-un lion statue that appears to guard the entrance. Bring your kids to the Summer Art Camp and make your own pieces in the Master Artist Workshop.

There is a fee to enter the museum, with free entry for members and anyone under age 17. Pay an additional cost for a guided tour. The site typically opens every day from morning until late afternoon, but is closed on Mondays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The Vero Beach Museum of Art is on the eastern shore of the Indian River in the heart of Vero Beach. From the historic center, drive east and cross the Merrill P. Barber Bridge to reach the museum in about 10 minutes. Leave your car in one of the free parking spaces in front of the building. While in the area, make sure to see other nearby sights such as Riverside Theatre, Farley Island and Vero Beach Dog Park.

Check to be sure that the regular exhibits are open before you go. We happened to be there when the entire collection was closed. There was an art show in one room, and the Sculpture Garden was open. But, because of this, there was no admission cost.
