Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Eureka vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any daily medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) hiding in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive substances, such as bleach and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and remember to bring a sweater as it can get chilly inside the cabin during longer flights. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are always a good choice too.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help lower your risk.
