We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our tips and you'll be hightailing it through the airport and exploring Hillcrest Mines before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a great experience if you bring the right things. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare set of clothes and something to read. Secondly, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, any daily medications and perhaps a cozy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight often lies in your choice in clothes. Prepare for changes in temperature by bringing layers. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like stilettos, flip flops and lace-up boots are best left in your checked suitcase. Instead, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will thank you for it.
- Caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers on long-distance flights. But the great news is there are proven ways to significantly reduce your risk of developing it. Stay hydrated, get up and walk around the cabin as much as you can and wear compression socks or tights.
