No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy tips that will help get your Scalby escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, chemicals agents and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your number one priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a smart option, as are enclosed shoes like sneakers.
- Caused by sustained periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect passengers on long-distance flights. Reduce the risks by drinking water, keeping your lower limbs moving and wearing compression socks or tights.
