We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight as stress-free as possible. Follow our top tips and you'll be breezing through the airport and having a ball in Trout Dale in no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack in your passport, official ID, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to while away the time. A juicy book and a laptop crammed with your favorite movies are good options. If you plan to take a quick snooze, a neck pillow and some noise-canceling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll arrive looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and fireworks, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your number one priority is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural fibers and take a pullover in case you get cold. Always go with flat, well-fitting shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long-haul is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another easy way to help reduce this risk.
