Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well organized. Take a peek at these handy tips and tricks that will get your Walton vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a great experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare set of clothes and a good read. Next, leave space in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have a pocket knife lurking in your hand luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable goods, such as fuel and matches, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight often lies in your choice in clothes. Prepare yourself for varying temperatures by layering up. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like high heels and sandals are best left in your checked suitcase. Instead, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will thank you for it.
- A serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this happening. Wearing a pair of compression socks or tights is also a wise idea.
