“Very Friendly Staff, However The Comforters On Both My Beds Were Dirty Upon Arrival. The Breakfast Was Consolidated Greatly. The Doors Are Very Loose/Shaky, And You Can See The Sidewalk From The Bottom Of The Door. Overall, Not A Terrible Stay, But Most Definitely Could Be Better. 5.5/10.”

“For reference, I’m a Hilton Gold Member and my opinion of this independent hotel (closest to the Appomattox Surrender Grounds National Park) is that it’s very much on par with a Hampton Inn as far as rooms, decor, amenities and pricing. (But not the cookies) This is my fourth stay here at this hotel and I promise you will not be disappointed.”

“The manor is a beautiful historical building. It was amazing to see the every room as it must have looked in the early 1800's! Although breakfast is not provided at this time, there are three kitchens to choose from if you would like to use one while staying there. My stay was a great experience!”

“I paid in full and was ask to cancel my reservation two weeks before using the property because the property wasn’t ready. I booked 5 months before stay. It was my son’s college graduation so I couldn’t find anything else. He said he would make it work. At the minute I was able to find something else, plus he said there were rescue dogs on the property and I didn’t feel comfortable with the dogs. I cancelled and he said he would work it out to give me a refund. I ask for at least 1/2 back....

“Michael was an excellent host. Property was clean and equipped as promised. Complete with Keurig and K-cups! Very quiet community, close to the places that we needed to go. High Bridge Trail is nearby, Three Rivers Brewery in Farmville. Nice selection of local houses of worship in the area. Would definitely recommend”

“This is truly a unique apartment on the James...It's rough hewn wood framing interior and Elizabethan-style decor lend an air of the spiritual and mystical to your stay. The master bed is SOOO comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped. There are fabulous views from every room. Note that while there is room for 5 guests to sleep, there are only two bedrooms - one with a king size bed, one with a twin bed and one fold out couch in the living room area.
