An excellent facility for an overnight stay. We were made most welcome on arrival. A very comfortable bed, excellent shower and an excellent full Scottish breakfast.

The pub frontage of the Farmers Inn was tidy and cosy-looking; the parking yard, which separates a single-storey block of guestrooms from the pub, looked scruffy and in need of a tidy-up in stormy late-afternoon light. The pub lounge interior was as cosy and tidy as the frontage, with a small bar; overnight guests could enter through a back door past the kitchen -- a fact we didn't realize until we saw other people entering from the car-park. (Better signage would have helped.) The evening meal was excellent, especially the beef pie and veg. My room, #4, was a double-double, very spacious, with a new bathroom. The soft furnishings could have done with a sprucing up, but nothing problematic. What was a problem was a mysterious noise -- like a firework going off whiiiizzzzzz-bang! every five minutes, throughout the night. It wasn't really annoying until I was settling down for the night (I'd written it off as some sort of fog-warning noise during the bad weather earlier), and then it kept me awake for hours. I mentioned it to the management the next morning, and it was ascribed to issues with water-taps not being turned off completely; my friend heard a different whirring noise most of the night, but not the bang. I hope management can deal with the various plumbing noises and tidy up the property a bit. The pub is worth staying at -- and maybe bring ear-plugs if you're a difficult sleeper.

The rooms are at the back of the building and look a bit tired but inside they are very modern, clean, spacious and warm. I would recommend here.

What happened to service with a smile?
Pros to begin with: * Parking - good in that you can park outside your room as rooms have external doors. * Breakfast was lovely. Good quality well cooked. My favourite aspect of this stay. Abut cold in the conservatory though! * Flexibility- we were lucky to get a table to eat when we checked in, they seemed very willing to ensure we got seated. Con’s: * Service. No service with a smile. Both male & female owners/landlords were dreadfully miserable and appeared unwelcoming. No smiles, no eye contact, but they weren’t rude or abrupt directly just very cold and unwelcoming, jseemed terribly unhappy? The female didn’t speak and avoided eye contact. Very bizarre to adopt this approach in this line of work. Just think this place could be amazing if this couple were more welcoming. *Evening meal- we were lucky to get seated but the food wasn’t great.I had the roast dinner, the roast beef seemed reheated I couldn’t cut it, it was a frozen Yorkshire pudding and I was offered chips with it unusually? *the room- good sized room but the floor was filthy in the hall & bathroom had dirty footprints, there was a strong foisty smell, an old dirty pink shower curtain which didn’t go in the bathroom. Bedding was spotless as was the towels. Blinds & décor & furniture etc were NOT & needs cleaning/updating/modernising. But the main thing is the smell. *The breakfast time. We had to be at breakfast at 8.30am, no negotiation on time or a more open time?? Had to be 8.30am.

Overall we liked the Farmers Inn. Only quibbles were the length of time it took to run the water before it got hot (wasting water too) and the shower was a bit feeble. Also breakfast only available between 8-8.30. A bit restrictive for people on holiday! But the bed was comfortable, there was free Netflix and both breakfast and dinner were good. The weather was appalling but that wasn't anyone's fault...

Welcoming and Relaxing
Very welcoming on arrival and accommodated us for a last minute meal, which was great home cooked food. Rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable bed. Good nights sleep as rooms out the back of the pub in a separate building.

We were warmly welcomed by the owners and shown our accommodation. Our room was absolutely lovely. Up to date decor, very spacious and very clean. Fabulous comfy bed, great shower and we also got complimentary tea,coffee& biscuits. It really was better than quite a few hotels we’ve stayed in! The pub was a warm, happy, inviting place to sit & have a meal. The meals were absolutely delicious and big portions!! But I still managed to fit in a dessert! Breakfast was fab- again big portions and once again delicious. Thanks very much for a very enjoyable stay, we will most definitely recommend you and when back up this way we’ll stop with you again.

Good, clean spacious accommodation with home cooked food by the owners of the Farmers Inn. Excellent stay and plenty to see and do in the area. Good base for exploring the Dumfries area. Would recommend.

We always have a good time at the Farmers Inn. The rooms are newly renovated, nice and clean, the bathrooms are very chic. Here the whole package is right. A cosy pub, very good homemade food, great whisky selection. Who is not conclusive, Colin finds the suitable one :-). Drinks specials are always offered. For us a must be at the end of each Scotland vacation before it goes on to the ferry back to Germany.

Very nice management and staff who catered for us very well. We ate in the bar/restaurant and the majority of food was excellent however the “berry” crumble was not as ordered! The en-suite facilities were some of the best we’ve ever experienced!

Clean and friendly
We stayed here as a stop off to break up a long journey. The accommodation is a different building to the pub meaning it was much quieter. Situated on the other side of the car park park, the only noise was when punters were leaving in their cars. Comfortable and safe with a lovely modern bathroom. The cooked vegetarian breakfast was just scrambled egg and two tomato halves but lots of toast, cereal, yoghurt and fruit options were available. We only saw one chap during our stay who supported for check in, managing the pub and breakfast. Despite his multiple jobs, he was friendly and courteous.

Lovely, quiet Farmer’s Inn
The rooms we had at Farmers Inn were recently renovated to a very nice standard. All furnishings were new and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was good and lots of choice available just the way you might desire it to be. Colin and staff were very attentive and helpful with questions we had regarding the history of the Inn and the local area. The pub had fantastic pub fare available and we all enjoyed our evening meal there. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

A little gem with lovely owners
Greeted on arrival by the owners Found my room to be expansive and well quipped with a large comfortable bed.The shower/bathroom was nicely furnished and the shower itself was very powerful making for an invigorating experience.There was a large hd television in the room with access to Netflix which was a pleasant surprise.The wi fi was fast and easily accessible.The owners were charming being very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the local area.Both the dinner and breakfast menu was extensive with lots of choices all at a very reasonable price.The food when served was of a very good quality and portion size was large.The bar was very well stocked and again very well priced.The owners certainly make you feel very welcome and I will certainly return here in the future when work dictates.A very enjoyable one night stay providing excellent value.

The Farmers Inn was located in a quiet village a short drive from Dumfries, the Solway coast and Annan. The pub was lovely, quiet and served a good range of bar food. The en-suit rooms were separate to the pub and all were on the ground level and all guests have their own individual front door. You can park your car directly outside your room. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the landlord. Breakfast was early on the morning but there was a good choice and the full Scottish breakfast was lovely. It was a lovely place to stay when you are wanting a quiet break in the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland.

Quiet and nice small B&B.
It took a little work to find as the GPS didn't want to locate the address initially. I called the B&B and got an address that the GPS finally would recognize. This was not the B&B's fault. For some reason, the GPS just didn't want to recognize the initial address. Property was out in the country in a very small village - just what I wanted. It was very quiet and dark and provided a good night's rest. The owner ran the local pub also that all the locals came to. My evening meal was extremely good - close to the best meal of my two weeks in country. The owner was nice and even gave my daughter a lesson on types of whiskey. The only downside to the stay was that wifi only existed in the pub not in the room.
