Campanile Prime Paris 19 - La Villette

6/10 Okay

"Staff was awesome. Food was ‘ok’. Really the only things I was disappointed about was the bathroom… so tiny a person can hardly move…. Yes the room is small, but expected in Europe. The location is not good to the tourist spots. I picked it because it was 2-3 miles from the things we wanted to see, but by taxi it still took 30-40 minutes to get there because of traffic. Paris traffic and crowds is terrible."

"This hotel is a real gem in Paris. Maybe one of the best deals around. The staff are absolutely wonderful. In particular, Guy, the front desk agent was lovely and a superstar receptionist. The concierge is great too. I had an incident one of the days in the area (not the hotel) and spoke to the Manager of the hotel. She was incredibly professional, empathetic and understanding. That’s what you want in a manager if you have having a very bad day or had an unfortunate incident. Their rooftop bar is just divine. Some of the best views in Paris. They have happy hour and some great deals going. Cocktails are fantastic and the bar tenders are super cool. The rooms are clean, large and have great windows to look out of. Very unique to have such large, comfy rooms in Paris. And at the rates they offer- it’s a real steal. The hotel is often fully booked with conference goer- clearly they are popular. I highly recommend this place! It’s one of my favorites in Paris!"

"NO AIR CONDITIONING. there was also no fan available. the windows were able to be opened but air flow was poor and the street noise is very loud all night long into the morning. the picture of the front of the property is absolutely misleading. that picture was taken 3 years ago and the condition has significantly declined with a lot of trash in front as well. surrounding neighborhood not the safest feeling. shower was miniature. bed was comfortable for the most part, would not go as far to say “premium” bedding. had something stuck to the sheets that was almost like a sharp piece of hard plastic tape, so don’t know where that came from. good thing: staff securely stored our luggage in a locked closet while waiting for our room to be ready & had 2 outside doors with codes for safety. would choose another hotel next time"

"Reception area was fine and staff were friendly and helpful, buffet breakfast was good enough for a budget stay - decent coffee and some nice basic pastries. Area is ok - 5 minutes’ walk to either Jaurés or Laumierès, 10 minutes walk past shops and restaurants to Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, which was nice in the sunshine. The rooms were awful. Stuffy and musty smelling with weird brown marks down the wall. Room was tiny, with nowhere to store clothes or unpack anything. No bathroom - shower (with door that didn’t close properly) and small sink in the room and a toilet cubicle. We were a family of three and they hadn’t even made the third bed for us, I had to do it. No amenities - had to hand over my passport to borrow a hairdryer and was told I had to give it back within an hour. I think the photos of the rooms on Expedia are deceptive, or maybe we were unlucky and got an old room. I know it’s a budget hotel and I’m a realistic person - I wasn’t expecting The Ritz! But still really disappointed - wouldn’t stay again or recommend."

"The hotel is really lovely and staff were friendly. The AC wasn’t working and apparently unable to be fixed according to reception. The main entrance had a large bar which was sadly never open during our stay due to staffing according to reception. There is no security on the entrance. The whole building had access to anyone, no room card entry which is a bit odd for a hotel of its star status."

"We arrived early so the rooms weren’t ready which is fine. I did the pre-check-in, left my luggages and went out. When I came in at night, my room wasn’t processed still, it wasn’t prepared and they couldn’t even find the documents I have signed. Air conditioning wasn’t working well - it was a heatwave and it simply didn’t cool the room down. For a hotel with over 300+ rooms having these slow and crampy elevators was funny. The fact that the bigger elevator was broken on the second day and took another one and a half days to have been fixed was another. The fridge was good enough to keep things cool if they were cool which is hard to come by in a heatwave. Think of it as a cooler bag rather than a fridge. The only chair in the room was broken. Then the fire alarm. Clearly it worked for a full 6-8 minutes. When everyone went down, they turned it off, no explanation has been made. No cops or fire brigades popped up. You know what sucks? Going back to your room after the whole hotel guest were evacuated and the elevators are problematic. It takes forever and it is midnight. As we checked out, they were asking me how they have charged the deposit so they can return it. Wow! Maybe keep a track of it? I am not getting paid to do your job. All in all, this was my third time in here and I am never coming back."
