The location is ideal as it is directly across the street from the ferry. The shopping street and the famous Itsukushima Shrine is just a short walk away. I stayed in a room that had the bed in an upstairs loft. Things to consider if you book this room are the stairs are pretty steep and it’s not a small flight of stairs. Just stayed one night with my family and we didn’t want to leave. The house is over 100 years old but has modern conveniences and was very clean and comfortable. The futon beds were perfect. The service at this hotel was beyond excellent. They did a great job of accommodating our dietary needs even though we did not think to write ahead (if you have restrictions you should). During check out, we forgot to pack our daughters journal, they called the driver that took us to the ferry and sent an extra shuttle to the ferry terminal to deliver it a few minutes later. The baths are large, fantastic and not particularly busy when we used them.

This place is a total gem. They only have 11 rooms so the staff really gets to know everyone. Amazing staff. The rooms were so cute and comfortable. There's a fun little place to eat Okonomi a minute away, but not much else in this quiet neighborhood. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but you can get a breakfast basket in the morning. Hiroshima Station is an easy 15 minute walk away. Delightful stay.

This was by far the nicest room/resort we have stayed in. After being cramped in many Japanese hotels and ryokans, this was much much larger with three queen/full size beds, a 65" TV and an outdoor bath (mineral salts available in the lobby). However, please understand that as this location is very remote, dining options in the area and transportation may be limited. This may be why we didn't see any foreigners there? However, they do provide pick-up service to and from the Shin-Iwakuni station...
