Excellent stay in a beautifully restored medieval castle with great service and unique period features. Our stay in Castle Levan was at the very end of our trip around Scotland - one night in the Laird's chamber. The room itself was stunning, occupying an entire floor of the main tower with 12 feet high beamed ceilings, a seperate sofa/armchair suite, an alcove dressing table with large mirror, and a private "privy" (which, looking at its location, is probably where the original one would have sat). The private bathroom goes on to occupy an entire floor of the attached tower. The bathroom was in excellent condition with a free standing, roll topped bath and double (actually probably quadruple) shower, and of course "his and hers" private sinks. Breakfast was wide ranging and absolutely delicious, with locally sourced haggis, sausages, black pudding and bacon. There are ample outside areas in which to spend your leisure time, including large conservatory and waterfall. Finally, the service was welcoming and attentive - following a traffic accident we were needed to check in after the end of check in times. This was not a problem at all,with the host ready to meet us and still give us a tour around the castle. This is not one of your Victorian psuedo castle hotels. It is an authentic, feature filled medieval castle complete with arrow slits and battlements. A great place for couples (highly romantic) and families (private grounds/battlements!) alike.

Best in Scotland.

The stay was awesome. The accommodation was both historic, and extremely comfortable. I absolutely loved the bath. The host was lovely and more than helpful. Next time i will stay longer for sure.

Quirky and cool

Unforgettable, magic castle, with wonderful hosts. And where else can you have a delicious breakfast with a suit of armor watching you? Highly recommended.

It’s pretty cool to stay in a real castle. We stayed in the Archers Room. It was cozy. The only drawback is that it is a bath tub only, no shower at all. Aside from that it was a nice time.

This is an old renovated castle. A fun stay. Owner/operator, Kim, was great. Glad we stay here. The town of Gourock was fun to visit.

Historically quaint

We loved staying in the archers bedchamber. The owners were friendly and very informative about the history of the castle and the remodeling /restoration process. One of our favorite places to stay.

Great experience staying in this beautifully renovated castle. From the gardens and patio to the room and bathroom (Laird’s), it met or exceeded our expectations. Our hosts provided a flexible breakfast menu, allowing us to enjoy what we wanted each morning at a time that worked best for us. The location was perfect: convenient to the ferry and train station, and not far from the Glasgow airport. We appreciated the recommendation for where to go for the one full day we were in the area. We would stay again and there’s so much more to see and experience. We stumbled across The Smokehouse Restaurant in Gourock and enjoyed some of the best bar-b-q we’ve ever had. ( We are from Texas, so that’s saying a lot!). Highly recommend Castle Levan!

Absolut empfehlenswert, riesiges Zimmer, bequemes Bett und modernes, aber sehr geschmack eingerichtetes Bad 2 Stufen tiefer und auf der anderen Seite der engen Wendeltreppe. Da wir zuoberst untergebracht waren, überhaupt kein Problem. Das ganze Schloss ist sehr schön renoviert und liebevoll eingerichtet, die vielen kleinen Details geben ein tolles Ganzes! Sehr gutes Frühstück und tolle Aussicht vom Dachrundgang auf die Bucht. Gute Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten nur ein paar Autominutten entfernt. Kim, die Eigentümerin hat uns bestens versorgt und hilfreiche Tipps gegeben. Wer sich einmal als König oder Königin fühlen möchte, unbedingt ins Castle Levan gehen! Wir können es bestens empfehlen und würden es auch wieder buchen :-) Thanks to Kim, a great place to be!

You are staying in a castle, you can drink wine on the ramparts. The bathroom is bad to the bone. 4 foot thick walls. Cool place.

Wish we could’ve stayed longer

Kim and Maria were very pleasant. The Laird’s Chamber was spacious and comfortable. I’d definitely recommend this miniature castle for a unique stay. Be aware of the spiral staircase as it can be difficult with luggage.

Breakfast was amazing Archer room was snug and the bed was so very comfy would stay there again.. Nice couple own and run the B&B TAKE TIME to get to know them.. Went to the marina in Inverkip on recommendations and had the chicken sizzler. ABSOLUTELY amazing 12 out of 10.

The castle is absolutely wonderful. The owners Kim and Maria have really paid close attention to every detail. Breakfast in the morning was really lovely. It’s close to the water and town. The Lairds chamber and bathroom were stunning- we’d recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy a night in Scotland.

Fabulous location

Atmosphere / Location – What an excellent location an atmosphere. Why stay in the city when a castle is so close? Very quaint and interesting B&B in Gourock. My wife and two older children only stayed the night and wish that we could have stayed in the area longer as it looked like there was plenty to do. Rooms - The rooms are very clean and well kept. Beds were very comfortable. We had everything we needed for our stay. Bath room - The bath room was also very clean. Again, everything that we needed was provided in ample supply for our stay. Breakfast – Breakfast was very tasty and none of us left hungry. Host / Amenities / Service – Your hosts have done a fantastic job furnishing this historic building. They are very friendly and accommodating, even for ‘late arriving’ guests. We had a fabulous time and highly recommend staying at Castle Levan.
