I had chosen the hotel because I am an asthma patient and this hotel has the wooden floors. I requested a non smoking floor at the time of booking. But I was given a floor where every room was full of cigarette smoke and I couldn’t sleep the first night and after repeated request , they changed the room on the morning of the next day. I also lost an expensive ring which I kept on the bedside.booked 2 rooms and was on business trip . I couldn’t work the next due to bad health and sleepless night before. A bad experience in a so called 4 to 5 star hotel.

位處於珠江夜遊碼頭對面馬路；乘直通巴士到海珠廣場旁華夏酒店下車，向右行約8-10分鐘便到達，尚算方便！ 前台服務 ok。房間面積較細，浴厠共處一玻璃室，可互看情況，如家庭入住不方便；浴室只有淋浴，有梳洗用品及即棄拖鞋提供！ 房價已包括 cafe自助早餐，食物質素差，種類有限，添加速度又慢，服務員態度不似酒店質素；位置不多，人又多，門口接待員又不帶位，要自己等食客離開才可有位置，差！！！

性价比非常低，只有江景还好; 浴室太小，设计奇怪，厕所与淋浴间共用一到门，只能关其中一边，淋浴间门不能够完全关好，留了很大的空隙，淋浴时水都溜出去; 洗手盆两旁没有空位摆放东西; 窗台窗边布满灰尘，非常污秽，木地板也不见得干净，感觉总是有小动物咬;

The river view is excellent.

This is a good hotel in general. But the lobby is located on 5/F, and 2 elevators are not always enough. The cafe for breakfast is too small, always crowdy, and the food choices are limited. The room is tidy except the light smell of smoke from the bed sheet.

I paid for an upgrade to a better room, only to find that the bathroom was very dirty. Black and orange mould all over the shower area. They took a picture of my pictures to show housekeeping the dirt. It never got cleaned properly. They just don't care. Won't stay there again.

HoJo's is ho-hum ...

As others have characterized, this is a well-located hotel -- my room had a stunning river view -- with inconsistent service. One of the bell captains speaks excellent English and was very friendly, but the lobby staff on the 5th floor doesn't seem to buy in to basic customer expectations of the hospitality industry. As a result, this is a far better hotel for locals than for foreigners.

This is near Haizhu Square on riverside, a 30 min ride on metro from GZ-nan the high speed railway station. I originally booked a place next to the station, but it (and others nearby) does not accept foreigners, in spite of being paid in full and confirmed by Expedia. So the first thing to say about HJ Riverview is that they do accommodate you when you turn up, place is welcoming and staff have adequate English. Don't know what relation they have with western HoJo hotel chain, latter's website doesn't include this place. I stayed twice, outbound & homebound on a trip across S China. First stay they upgraded me to a vast suite, kinda spoiled me for second stay where I kept wondering where was my second bathroom and third salon. Pleasant neighbourhood for strolling & eating, Shimian Island is a 2 km walk or take the metro. I'm likely to return to GZ next year and would definitely aim for this hotel.

We original booked the Superior Landscape View With King Bed but upgraded since it was a very small room and the sun was shining right into that corner so it was really stuffy inside. We got the superior extra king which was huge and more than enough room for two people. The bathroom was not as big as pictured. Overall, nice river view. The staff was very slow and not helpful. The breakfast buffet that was included with the hotel was okay... free coffee, milk, eggs, sausages, desserts with a view. The hotel DOES NOT have a gym... so I couldn't work out.
