We love our stayed in Casa Jocotenango in Guatemala City. The host was really helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and it has everything we needed. We could use the shared kitchen to prepare breakfast. Highly recommended.
Very quiet (expect for airplanes occasionally which is the same everywhere in GUA). Very secure on side street only a few blocks from the center of historic district. Nearby restaurants for breakfast, jazz club a block away. A few more blocks and you ht all the stores, markets and restaurants... very convenient.
Great host, speaks good English, helpful with advice.
Wonderful place to stay in the historic district. If you like small hotels that feel homey and with lots of character, then you will like this one. Wonderful courtyard and rooftop patio. Great location within walking distance to many sites. Wonderful and helpful owners who clearly work hard to ensure their guests have a good stay.
The owner Luis is an amazing host. This is my 2nd trip to his hotel. He makes himself available to take the guests around. The quality of this service, combined with the hotel can't be beat.
Owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. He was able to help us with transportation and lots of information about the travel we had ahead of us too.
Luis runs this small hotel in the charming home his grandparents bought in 1910. Staying there felt like a more authentic way to experience Guatemala than in a chain hotel, and Luis is a kind, friendly, helpful gentleman.
This is a great little hotel in the center of downtown. The Palace, history museum, central market and relief map are all within walking distance.
Contrary to other reviews: credit cards accepted (with tap to pay). Has hot water showers (takes a while to get to shower head).
Great common areas to hang out in. The top deck is great.
Super secure, outside location, electric inside gate, then room door.
The owner Luis is a great help also

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Area around Casa Jocotenango was safe and clean. The problem I experienced was the opening of their security door since the manager was responsible to use his cell phone to open it but apparently sometimes he would not "hear" or checked his phone, so I'd to wait.
Lovely old house, with beautiful architectural details and a cozy rooms. Personable and accommodating staff, very knowledgeable about tourist attractions, always willing to offer recommendations. It felt like home away from home.

Hotel familiar
Si vuelvo a regresar a Guatemala me vuelvo a hospedar aquí.
