It is like s big old empty house, neat and tidy but updated only as much as absolutely necessary. If you are looking for historical, this is it. 100 year old stuff is everywhere. The staff met us at the front desk for check in, after a RING camera on the counter signaled him, at his house I suspect. We did not see him or anyone else for the next 20 hours, including at checkout. The room was ok. The bathroom was very small but the sink and shower tub were fairly modern and got their job done. We slept well.

There is nothing but good things about this property. Staff directed us to a spot to view grizzlies fishing, without even knowing how much it meant to us. Great stay

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at the Hotel Halsingland. We stayed after taking a ferry to Haines. For a very small fee, they picked us up from the ferry terminal and took us to the hotel. There we met the owner, Jeff, who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The grounds around the hotel are absolutely breathtaking and a historic fort. It is also very close to town and hiking trails. As it is a historic building, the amenities and room are quite outdated but everything else makes up for it. On our last day we were exploring in town and Jeff very kindly picked us up from town and took us to the ferry terminal again, really going above and beyond. It was an absolute unforgettable experience and can't wait to stay at Hotel Halsingland again.

Very bad I would give 0
It sells very bad, only one chair in the room, no coffee machine, no place to sit. The beds are very uncomfortable.

So quiet that I could sleep with the windows open in the very fortunate weather. Views of the many historic buildings, ocean, and mountains. I'll be back!

Old style comfort
Old building, heritage style. Great view. Google maps gives terrible directions. Friendly staff. No restaurant on site. Bath tub tap dripped and wifi was poor in my room but overall it was decent.

Bad value for money
Hotel is old and you see it everywhere - one could take care of it much better. Staff friendly, room ok, but very small, bathroom very tiny, shower with poor pressure. Rather poor Wifi, poor tv cable connection as well. Would be acceptable for a cheap motel on the road, but not worth the money they charge for it

Wonderful stay!
I loved staying at this historic hotel and highly recommend it to other travelers. The room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. It was very quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Haines is a beautiful little town!

Its a old historical building and as such is a little tired but that is part of its charm. I had a lovely stay and will go back. Only complaint is that there is no tea/coffee facility in the room - you need to go downstairs to the lobby to help yourself. Loved working the jigsaw puzzle in the lobby while waiting for the kettle to boil though!
