Kevin was the best host. He personally cooked us breakfast and you could see that he genuinely loved what he was doing. I really enjoyed my stay with him. Very thoughtful man! Would definitely stay here again if i came back.

The owner, Kevin, was very pleasant and accommodating. Each morning he greeted us with a large hot breakfast plus coffee or tea. There was a communal, large full sized kitchen with all amenities there for our use. You must be able to walk up stairs in order to reach our room. The bathroom was not modern but certainly adequate with hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner. We’d certainly stay here again- much better than a plain hotel room which is twice the cost!

This property has an excellent host and is a great option if you want to be walking distance to the port and Hobart's cbd.

Very enthusiastic owner, who serves a great breakfast. My room was fairly large, but I could not get beyond some of the poor quality renovations that were done, especially related to the electrical work. Also, the bathroom is very poorly designed with almost 0 horizontal spaces.

Tasty breakfast!
Kevin was a great host. Breakfast was really tasty. Not luxury but the room had everything we needed, small kitchen, TV etc. Bit of a walk from town but its fine. Skybus drop off/pick up is about 10 mins walk and town about 15 mins.

Looked promising. Property is in need of a makeover. Had the Kings room with ensuite which needed some workin shower and a big clean. Was in an excellent position to Hobart central and Kevin was a fine host. Excellent breakfast cooked freshly for you. If property was cleaned up would be a great place to stay.

Very comfortable Bed, good location & host Kevin very friendly but the room was too cluttered & the ensuite that had been added to the room ruined it. Extrememly poor workmanship, very roughly built, joints not even flushed & very roughly painted. The shower cheap rounded one and not cleaned very well. The garden would have been lovely if it was looked after, but full of overgrown weeds. Such a shame as this would be a lovely pleace to stay if it was given some TLC.

The owner is a very nice man. He's was amiable and chatty over the cooked breakfast that was included in my stay. He made me a 'double the shots' tall flat white and a cooked breakfast on sour dough toast. It's lovely old property with gorgeous gardens and outdoor seating areas, and the cafe area is almost like a conservatorium, with lots of light coming in. What the property lacked in a touch of cleanliness and maintenance, it made up for in character and hospitality.

Had a lovely time here. The place is in a great location 10 min walk to the city and the surroundings were very picturesque- i had a great time just walking around. The manger was lovely and very accommodating, overall great stay 😊

The host was very nice and friendly. Great breakfast. The property was on a busy street. A lovely period home but was not cared for outside or in. Christmas decorations in our room that had a view of the construction behind. The pictures don't really represent the present condition of the property. Needs TLC. The shared bathroom had not been very clean.

The house is an old historical looking house. The shared shared bathrooms were great. They have a large kitchen you can use as well. The beds were comfortable and there was a heater in the room for chilly night. Kevin was an amazing host. He made a delicious breakfast every morning. I was also able to store my bags in the store room so I could go do an excursion the day I checked out before my flight. Would definitely recommend for a couple or single looking to stay close to city center. I was able to walk home from the harbor with no issues.

Lowena is only a short walk from the harbour, markets, and shops, yet so much more affordable than the big fancy places! Kevin was a fantastic host with his large bottomless cooked breakfast and coffee, and very knowledgeable on everything Hobart. Our king room was perfect and the bed so super comfy!

Dirty and run down
This place was poorly maintained with a dangerous building site at the back. The place was very dirty and I don’t think for a minute the property is cleaned in accordance with the Covid policies stated. There is plenty of the owners diy work around the place and it concerns me some of it could be dangerous. The owner Kevin is a friendly man and I don’t know his story but it’s a shame it’s so run down. The bed was held together by a total bodge of wood and brackets. Strange. The breakfast was freshly cooked and the mixture of tomatoes and mushrooms tasted very unpleasant. I dread to think of the stayed of the kitchen where it was cooked.

Pros: It's cheap at $100 per night. Cons: Huge amount of traffic noise that will wake you up at 6am. The King Room was very dirty. The bathroom had grime around taps, plug and splashback. (Have photos) Shower base around screen channels was full of mould. All furniture had dust on it. I actually cleaned the bathroom before we used it. Curtain blind cords were black and dirty.(have photos) Towels left fluff all over you. No daily housekeeping. Gardens are completely overgrown. Overall: stayed in other 3 star hotels in Hobart that were much cleaner and quieter. Property presented online much better than reality.

Excellent accommodation very close to the centre of Hobart. Our accommodation was comfortable and spacious with an additional sitting room and private en-suite. There is a shared kitchen and beautiful garden to enjoy. Kevin is a wonderful host and the daily hot breakfast is a lovely added bonus.

It just needed a proper good clean! I didn’t want to put anything down because of it. I also gotten bitten in bed by something. And it generally was very worn and unwelcoming because of it. The host was friendly though.

It was really dirty. Especially the shower. The towels felt unclean and the room lock didn’t work properly.
