House of Terror Museum Tours

The House of Terror is a must-see in Budapest. A house has been preserved to showcase the terror of two different regimes. While the subject matter is heavy, when you emerge again and see the light blue sky through those letters, you're reminded of the present moment and things feel right again.

Did not have any English speaking audio sets available (odd since there weren’t that many visitors there). Without them, hard to really appreciate most of the displays. Staff was prettY brusk. That said, still worth a visit given the significance of the location.

2/5 - Disappointing

Strange and disorienting propaganda outlet for the Right-wing government, seeks to draw a straight line from the Nazis to the communists while occluding Hungarian collaboration with Nazis during WWII and positioning Viktor Orban at the center of the fall of communism. High production values.

This museum was amazing. The visual display was really creative, and the history of what Hungary endured under the Nazis and Russian Communist was incredible.  A story that is worth everyone reading about.
