Online check seemed in a bit dubious but was legit and relatively easy. Room 101 was very nice, Bed is a standard double, 4 poster, comfy. Great blackout curtains. Windows look into a quiet closed yard. Bathroom adequate and clean. Plenty of hot water, strong shower

Excellent location in Hove

I booked a single room for 3 nts. The single rooms are on the ground floor and unfortunately I could hear everything and barely slept. There was a free double room on the 3rd floor which I was able to move to and had a great sleep the rest of my stay. The hotel is in a great location for the restaurants and bars in Hove and the bus stop for the no 6 bus to Brighton train station is just at the top of the road

The staff were really nice and helpful. The property looks really ok online but on closer inspection the building is not in the best condition, cracks in the wall, tiny bathroom, grungy grout. Saying that bed was really comfortable and I had a good sleep. Had a balcony but window didn't open so couldn't use it which was a shame as it was super sunny and had a sea view.

Stopover

Was all good for the price we paid. A bit worrying if something went wrong in the night but there maybe was a sign I hadn't noticed. No wardrobe in the room but they covered all essentials I e iron, ironing board, hairdryer and toiletries.

The property didn’t have lifts, so it was difficult for my elderly mum to walk all the way up to the 4th floor! None of the staffs helped me with the luggage, so I ended up carrying 2 large suitcases to the 4th floor. Additionally, the next day after we arrived the entire 1 st floor was stinking of weed! Like seriously! Is this how they maintain hospitality?

Clearly seen better days and room was spartan. A lamp would have made it easier to enjoy the room. Rot and mould around the windows. Check in was dreadful. Why does the Brunswick SH want to collect biometric data? Being told be reception that it was policy as if that is enough to satisfy any person Data Protection concerns wasn't an adult answer.

Room ok but on 5th floor. Climb up 67 stairs. No lift. Parking is a nightmare. Had to park in car park some 20 minutes walk away from “hotel”. Could be described as a Guest House. Lovely area though. I am 81 years old. Wife is 66. Staff barely seen. One male member of. staff took pity on us and carried our heavy case up stairs on arrival. Stairs carpet wearing and needs renewal. Location excellent for walking.

Very disappointed

We paid £150 plus £29 admin and taxes for a room in the roof no bigger than our smallest bedroom. There was cobwebs in the corners and a dry chinese noodle on the floor. My partner even emailed the hotel to explain it was my birthday and we were leaving my daughter in Brighton for her 2nd year at uni and could we have one of their more prettier rooms.....they gave us the opposite plus it faced the rooftops at the back......very poor

My stay with Brunswick was terrible the tv didn’t work, the Wi-Fi didn’t work. I asked the staff to fix it and I was told to wait 5 mins then I spoke to them again about the problem I was then told to wait 25mins for them to fix it, after that I spoke to the staff again and they told me they was unable to fix it as they didn’t know how to! The check in staff was very rude she sat on her phone the whole time I was trying to speak with her, she was also on the phone a few times whilst I tried to ask her to sort out my room. I will not be staying again

A good hotel ruined by no overnight cover

The hotel staff, when present were helpful, equally the staff servicing the room. There is good wifi (and a smart tv - though it did not seem to be possible to watch terrestrial TV in real time). The local is not bad, on the edge of Hove and a reasonable walk into Brighton. HOWEVER - there was a fire alarm activation at ~00;30 (these things happen), but despite attempts to contact the roving night porter, no contact was made and no action taken by the hotel management. The alarm was finally deactivated after 90 mins by the guests and fire service (we called them ourselves and also the company running the alarms). This is..... troubling. It is now over 48 hours and I have no communication of apology or explanation from the Hotel owners.

Poorly run

The hotel is okay but I wish we booked somewhere else. Check in process was not good at all, which gave us a really bad impression overall. The room is nice enough, very comfortable bed and a good shower but I did pick up the plug as it was blocking the drain and it was tangled in long hair so I'm not sure why housekeeping is delaying everyone's checkin (see multiple reviews about not being able to checkin on time), we arrived at 4:30 and checkin took about half an hour or more as the room still wasn't cleaned, and you pay a cleaning fee. For two nights we paid a total of £30 extra for housekeeping. There is no bar, its covered in amazon parcels, and no mention of a spa - later we saw the reviews about the spa which you can also read. Overall I wouldn't stay here again as it's not managed properly and clearly leaves a lot of people feeling frustrated.

On line check in was very frustrating. The email address to reply came back as none existent. Ended up with text messages. Basically, the hotel needs to make it clear that you cant get into your room before 15.00hrs. Reception staff on duty from 15.00 were very helpful. There is no lift, and we were in the fifth floor. The room was clean but the sink hot tap was alarmingly loose, the water flow in the shower impossible to regulate making it very difficult to shower without being scalded, and the stream iron leaked water. Kettle and hairdryer worked. The bed was comfortable. However broken window panes and a gap in the window frame meant the room was well ventilated! Fortunately, the heating worked well so it wasn’t too cold. I will look elsewhere before using this hotel again.

It was a disappointing stay. We were required to provide a £100 deposit / card charge on arrival. This was not expected and not explained when booking. The charge has not yet been reversed. The room (203) was fine but it was tired (for example, there was torn wallpaper). Under the bed was a large amount of bundled up tissue from a previous guest. There was no soap available in the en-suite (which is a box room within the main room, rather than a purpose built en-suite). More disappointing than all of that was that the walls are very thin / have very little soundproofing. The room is off the main staircase / hallway (and the bed is against the adjoining wall) so you hear everyone passing the room and going up and down the stairs. The guests in the room next door to ours were also up all night and they may have well been in our room. It was not a restful stay. Sadly, I would say we would have been better off staying in a chain rather than this independent.

I did not see one member of staff. Parking was a 5 minute drive away. There were bed bugs (my daughter was bitten twice and i have pics of a bed bug). Damage in the room, fridge was in the bathroom, had to go down the dangerous stairs outside, corridor looked like the staff and storage underground floor of a hospital! Check in was a nightmare! Details given to me were wrong!! Which made it very stressful after a long drive! Fire alarm went off at 11.30pm so had to take my kids out in the rain and cold. Hotel was more like a hostel when i saw most the guests that came outside. Turns out cannabis was being smoked in the hotel! Not one member of staff appeared!! Different stories were being given to guests from the lady on whatsapp, we all were unhappy with the lies, lack of customer service, and customer care! One lady had to go out and buy her own toilet roll for god sake!! I asked to have a refund several times to go somewhere else but i was ignored every time!! I also couldnt afford to go anywhere else otherwise i would!!! All proof of these problems are in pics or on whatsapp conversation!
