Great staff, average motel
The staff were great, getting us a room in the middle of the night after being blown out of Badlands by 70 mph winds.
The motel itself is a budget motel. You get what you get and you don't get upset.
Pulling up I was a little nervous about what I was walking into, but once I got inside I was very impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff was and I couldn’t believe how nice and clean the inside of my room was. If I’m ever in this area again I will definitely be staying at the Love hotel.
While this hotel proved sufficient for an overnight stay, we were not comfortable there. Our booking was for a room that sleeps 6. That was not available when we arrived and were graciously given 2 rooms by the friendly staff. Rooms were not so much dirty as they were low standard: torn bedding, old worn carpet, poorly patched drywall, broken trim, gaps round the air conditioner, very old furniture. The worst though was the significant evidence of mice: lots of mice droppings, mouse holes in the floor, and cats on premises.
The outside looks really rough and kinda low grade. However, the room was nice and clean. The onsite manager was wonderful and very friendly. He is doing a wonderful job.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
It was clean and reasonably priced. Sink had a leak leaving the bathroom floor wet. We had a garbage bag placed over broken blinds! Needs a lot of work.
I had some car trouble in the National park and found this hotel and just kind of showed up. The owner was SO kind and made sure I was comfortable in the air conditioning until my room was ready. Everything was very clean and had everything I needed! Tv, air conditioning, fridge and a microwave!! He made sure I had everything I needed and made sure I knew I could contact him. It was absolutely perfect to get me refreshed and back on the road!
The property is off the highway on a dirt lot.
The receptionist Pete was friendly and accommodating. The room was dirty and buggy.

Disliked: Amenities
It is an older building, we needed a place to sleep, bath, bathroom, It was in-expensive. Check in was simple, guy was very nice, no ice machine but he offered to get some ice from the kitchen in back. No frills, basic 1970 hotel. Bathroom was clean, everything worked, air conditioner. TV, hit and cold water
It looks like they recently changed hands and you can tell they have been trying to clean things up. The carpet and paint seemed fairly new. There were a bunch of dead bugs in the bathroom. We couldn't get the TV to work and I don't think the heater was working, but we didn't really need it yet. You can hear other people talking and kids running around. The base of the sink seems to be unfinished plywood, which is not very sanitary because you can't really clean it. The beds were comfortable and the bedding smelled clean. I liked that they had a table and chairs, fridge and microwave.
What I can I say? You get what you pay for. If you're just looking for a cheap place to sleep and take a shower among a tourist area of overly priced hotels, then this is a good option. It's close to the Badlands right off the highway and near gas stations. I'm not sure the real name of this place, because when we showed up, it had a different name on a banner and at the front desk. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and not too soft. Shower water pressure was great and water was hot. They have a mini fridge in the room. Free breakfast includes bagels and cream cheese, and breakfast snack bars. The owner was friendly and I could tell he's trying his best to make the place better.
And now the bad....the sheets were dirty. There were orange and red stains and pee stains on one of our bed sheets. It was absolutely gross so we only slept on one of the beds. The sink was leaking from the bottom. And lastly, there were so many flies!!!! We killed almost 15 of them when we first arrived and there were still some flying around while we slept.
So bizarre it is hard to describe. A square building on a dead-end dirt road. May have been nice 50 years ago? Couldn't get the tv to work, but it was mounted on a wall facing the bathroom door and would have been extremely hard to watch anyway.
This is by far one of the worst hotels in SD. I had a reservation that expedia charged me to make. I showed up and they didn't have rooms available. They only had rooms that didn't have heat when it was snowing out. I had to go to a different hotel for the weekend. I then found out they still charged me for the room and they would not refund the amount. Expedia has been completely useless and Love Hotels by OYO is scamming people out of their hard earned dollars. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemies.
