We are happy you enjoyed, for the most part, your 1-night stay and took advantage of all the amenities. It is our stand practice to offer help with guest's bags, as I did ask your wife. Poor thing had an arm full but she declined. For potential guests reviewing rooms, our rooms state the floor location and the Inn is not equipped with an elevator. If you want us to take your bags to your room, say yes when we ask. )The Kalamazoo House is a historic bed and breakfast with modern amenities such as, HD flat screen TVs, Roku with live streaming, high speed internet, FREE WIFI and yes, Amazon Echos. The Echos are set to Kalamazoo area so it makes it easy for guests get local info and recommendations plus, playing music, getting up-to-date news while getting dress or putting on make-up, hands free. When you brought up the camera issue to Jeff, he assured you, as for security to guests, the drop-in camera feature is 100% disabled. As for the bed you slept in, beds and pillows are all a personal preference. What one would say "uncomfortable" another would say "super comfortable". Nonetheless, this mattress IS new (last time I checked "old school" mattresses are no longer being made). When purchasing a mattress, we only select high quality, durable and top rated for comfortability. We take great care and attention to the comfort and security of our guests. Our goal is to make a wonderful and relaxing experience. We advise all our guests, if you have questions, comments or concerns, bring them to us at once. We'd like a chance to rectify.If you change your mind, we look forward to seeing you.

Hello Arthur, Your review is disheartening as your stay was 1-night, and your late arrival didn't allow us to get to know one another. You would have learned that we are new to the Kalamazoo House but are not new Innkeepers. Jeff and I ran and managed a B&B for 3-years in NJ before taking the leap and purchasing this B&B in December 2020. The Kalamazoo House B&B, as did many other lodging places, had to make changes due to the pandemic. Many in this industry either adopted the change or sold. Therefore, the Kalamazoo House implemented changes for the safety and well-being of our guests. As with so many other people who purchase an existing business do not always do the same thing. Your stay was with 18 other guests, all of whom were leisure travelers. The breakfast time was catered to them, the majority. We do offer a To-Go Breakfast for folks needing to leave, you declined. However, you sure seemed to enjoy the Belgian Waffle with fresh strawberries as your plate was clean as a whistle. =) Perhaps, you miss the former Innkeepers or the way things were before the pandemic. Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad to know you enjoyed the charm of our Inn, the breakfast, and other amenities. In deciding whether to have cable or something similar, we let the past guests help in making the decision. The majority like the Roku because they can log into their accounts to watch their favorite shows, or some take advantage of the free stations. We do wish you would have called or texted us, the instructions are next to the TV but we could have walked you through it and you would have been able to watch CBS or NBC.
