The hosts are very dear people. The modest room was clean offering internet, television and hot water..i slept comfortably on the soft bed. Cooling is a ceiling fan & in tge cement building is more than adequate even in the summer heat.
The family that runs the hotel is incredibly warm and welcoming! They were very friendly and helpful. The room condition was okay--it was basic accommodations for what we needed, although the shower never ran hot water (and only ran slightly lukewarm water when we asked how to get the hot water flowing). The location is great just a walk away from Thamel, so it's quiet but near a convenient location. All in all, excellent for the price, and I would be happy to stay again.

Ótima relação custo benefício
Localização muito prática e staff muito simpático e prestativo. O colchão é um pouco duro e desconfortável, mas no geral é um bom hotel pelo preço que é cobrado.
Excellent family hotel, with 5 stars service. Feel like home. Location very near of thamel bue not in the jungle of the crowd. Nice view from the rooftop
Fantastic welcome. The owner can arrange money exchange at a great rate, can come and pick you up at the airport and organise tours for you. We will definitely go again!
The location is very good. It is also located in the local living area. You can interact with local people.
The room facilities are basic but comfortable. The wifi is not strong on my floor.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. They provided very good breakfast and dinner! Moreover, I needed to go to hospital because I was sick. The owner brought me to the hospital and accompanied me in the whole process. Much appreciated!
I booked this hotel because of the good reviews and they were spot on. We were incredibly well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed each of our 3 short stays during our visit to Nepal. Just outside Thamel rather than inside was a bonus.
Rooms are basic but spacious. Location is great, within a few minutes walk of the heart of Thamel. Wi-fi is OK and there’s hot water 24/7. The owners (Dil and Puja) are extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast is really good; Puja Is an excellent cook. Metro Eco offers outstanding value for money and I recommend it 100%.
The hotel is on a nice side street just a couple minutes walk to Thamel. The hotel and room were very clean. The shower always had good pressure and hot water. The beds were nice, although maybe not the most comfortable. The food they serve on the rooftop terrace was very good and inexpensive. The best part about the hotel is the amazing hospitality of the staff. They helped us with everything we needed. On our first morning there the owner even took us into Thamel and showed us around a little bit.
Dil & Puja go out of their way to take care of guests. Very cool people. They are like family in Kathmandu.

kind owner operators
The kind people there are what make this pace worth it. The woman is the hardest worker I have ever seen trying to make sure it is clean. The entire family is kind. On the not so good.. the beds are east er n style so if you are a westerner be aware they are not soft! The room was fine otherwise, comparable to others in the area. The only other problem really is location. It is difficult to find and right next to a shrine to Ganesh. Which isn't a bad thing in itself but the bell starts getting rung at about 5 am or so daily... oh dear god.
I enjoyed every minute of this hotel. A wonderful family environment. If you need to travel they can set that up for you. Right back off the main road but close to everything in Thamel.
I arrived late night plane and Dil was there to pick me up as promised. I had much luggage and he helped me carry from airport to the room.
Thank-you Dil. !
WHEN I HAVE ARRIVED, THE ROOM WAS NOT READY YET ! THE OWNER, PUJAR (PETITE GIRL WHO RAN DOWN FROM 5TH FLOOR ROOF TOP TO GREET ME & INVITE ME TO ROOF TOP FOR A CUP OF TEA WHILE WAITING FOR THE ROOM TO BE CLEAN..SURPRISINGLY IS THAT SHE ASK MY PERMISSION & TOOK MY BACKPACK RAN UP TO 5TH FLOOR ROOF TOP...WOW... SHE IS STRONG WOMAN !!! I DO RATE THEM 5 STARS NOT BECAUSE OF ITS REALLY ALL FACILITIES 5 STARS IN REALITY BUT THE HOSPITALITY OF PEOPLE THERE MAKES U FEEL LIKE "HOME" THAT IS WORTH FOR MOSTLY 5 STARS HOTEL. ALWAYS WARM SMILE AT ALL TIME ALL REQUEST. PROMISING NICE BREAKFAST EVERY MORNING. DIL THE OWNER TOO, ACCOMPANY ME TO WAIT FOR A BUS TO PICK UP IN MORNING & TREAT ME BREAKFAST IN FOOD RESTAURANT. HE WAITED UNTIL BUS PICK ME UP..(GOSH..SO FATHERLY) BABU (15 YO BOY WHO CAN COOK NOODLE SOUP FOR ME) & DIDI ARE ALWAYS SMILING & READY TO HELP WHENEVER WE HAVE QUERIES. WE COOK TOGETHER. SOME HOUSE GUEST, HEMAH & DONNA ENTERTAIN US WITH HINDI/NEPAL SONG DANCE AT OUR DINNER. WE DO HAVE FUNS, SURROUNDED BY NICE OWNERS & HOUSE GUESTS. WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!! I HAVE BOOKED 2 DAYS & END UP MY LAST DAY AT NEPAL I RE-BOOKED AGAIN TO STAY THERE FOR A GATHERING NIGHT (ACTION MORE THAN TALK). I AM BLESSED TO HAVE ALL OF THEM SURROUNDED ME. MY TRIP IN NEPAL & GOD BLESS ALL OF US... P.S. PUJAR & DIL.. U ARE REALLY A GOOD COOK..THANKS FOR THE BREAKFAST & DINNER
the staff at this hotel are the best i've met so far. they work hard and keep a pleasant composure. they do the best with what they have. the hotel is right next to a morning prayer shrine. if you want the nepal experience this is the place. other hotels isolate you, in my humble opinion. the staff at this hotel are the best i've met. i look forward to keeping contact with them. their back-up power system and internet are reliable. i say this for other travelers.
The stay was into a local locale, permitting me a glimpse into the Nepali culture and ambience. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city, in Thamel. If you stood into the balcony of your room, you would see balcony of another house at two arms' length, a very famous temple few feet away, a first-hand view of the spiritual world at the temple, children playing right there on the street few inches away...all in all an exhilarating view of life in Nepal right from your room. Above all this present building has many floors- roof top gives real nice view of other buildings/area from top.
The second thing which I really liked about the hotel and the hosts being an alone traveller is their hospitality. Puja was nice, friendly and caring and made me (and other residents of the hotel) feel right at home. Puja served personalized food and tea with extra delicious homemade treats. After she placed my breakfast on the table on the roof top, she sat with me while I ate my breakfast, gave me company of someone like a sister/friend. Similarly, I remember chatting away with Puja, Dil and few more residents on the dinner table for almost two to three hours. The hosts are extremely warm and I can say that I received their time, attention and care. Puja and Dil are very helpful. Dil bought me a local sim card on request and offered to make arrangement for cab to Nagarkot and airline ticket for Mt Everest on best rates possible.
i have had the most unique & wonderful stay with them.
Very friendly and attentive family run this hotel in Katmandu. Nice location for beginning walking tours of the city.
Most excellent home-made breakfasts.
