"I have stayed at the Serena several times over the past 20 years. In fact, of the 80 countries I have visited the Serena in Mombasa is still my favorite place in the world. The staff, including front dest staff (namely, Althuman) and the wait staff are outstanding. Many are long-term staff who have obviously been well-trained in customer service. The Maisha Spa is always worth a visit. The property is beginning to show signs of aging so I hope there are plans to upgrade it, while not loosing its Swahili Coast charm. I have been a fan for a long time and will be back again!"

"The location of the property was good as it was right on the beach. However, during the 3 night stay I never managed to get a warm shower let alone a hot one. The breakfast was also OK but needs more variety and turnover of food - it was lukewarm. They also seemed to be running low on cups ."
